Nixon - Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is in talks with a a US financial group about a £20million loan although not all the cash will instantly go to the club. (Alan Nixon) GOM's response, "It makes sense if the loan is going to him personally or into Mercator. Very similar to the loan Madrox took out, which then came into the club as share capital."
Quite right Bob, it'll get the gossipers gossiping though. Dunno mate, just threw it up in a hurry, waiting for Mrs Smug to get ready
Will this bring in a change in execution of 'the model' I.e. a tweak to the recruitment or will it very much remain a KLD thing and we shouldn't expect much movement on that front? I mean to say will the external new partners have any influence on how we are to be run.
It could well be mate, I can't remember tbh. I was just trying to work out what 20m would roughly value us at.
Was the latest article I found quickly on Google. Didn't mean anything by it Edit this article more up to date https://aleagues.com.au/news/sunder... Louis, former Sunderland owner Stewart Donald.
So in theory a loan might be used to allow us to continue our business towards the end of the season and over the sumner whilst Sartori is selling and a new part owner is not yet funding the club?
It could be lots of things although, as with the mystical £10m loan, there's absolutely no evidence it's real. (Why would KLD inform Nixon or anyone else when it could be entirely personal.) It could just be to confirm the availability of £20m in case it's needed for the summer window. Being able to pay upfront fees could save millions, making a loan cheaper. KLD may have to liquidate assets to release money for signings. Again that might cost more money than a cheap loan ... ... certainly cheaper than an overdraft. It's interesting how some people have been saying we should spend millions, like Ipswich ... ... then throw their hands up in horror if there's a sniff we could do the same
