As a massive Yes fans for 50 years, it's strange to say that this track is one of my least favourite! Don't know why - musically it's everything they were trying to achieve - but just not for me. And it gets rolled out as an encore at every bloody gig! So I'll counter with this - and save me putting in a separate Wakeman entry... He can certainly tickle those ivories!
I fell out of love with Yes after this album , never got on with their 80s stuff One of my biggest disappointments was the Topographic oceans concert at the Rainbow, never got on with that album although I try every couple of years I know others adore it , one particular "friend " loved it because of my dislike but I know that he couldn't get on with it,
GFTO was their highlight album for me. CTTE and Fragile not far behind. Tales was the first one I bought on release and yes, it's overlong, but features some amazing music. I was at the Rainbow gig and it didn't gel at all then, but the Ritual drum/bass section became almost a standard in later years. 80's Rabin Yes never reached the same level for me either, although Talk was decent. And 'Mind Drive' from the 90's was for me an epic Yes track.
Came very late to the game as far as Waxahatchee are concerned but I've been a massive fan of Jake Lenderman for quite a while now, both with his band Wednesday, and as a solo artist so this song is pretty close to perfect for me. The fact that this is a cracking live version bodes well for the Waxahatchee gig at The Forum in July, definitely looking forward to that. Oh, and if anyone is thinking that the Wednesday song sounds familiar, yeah I know it's a blatant steal of the Kinks finest hour. But if you're going to steal make sure you steal the best!
