3.45 Fairyhouse Sporting Glory 33/1 e/w (hopefully all 8 go to post) Despite 3 runners from Closutton and 1 from Cullentra House this looks an open Grade 2 Novice Hurdle and, whilst bumper form doesn't necessarily translate to hurdle form, I am surprised to see Sporting Glory priced up at 33/1 for this. I really like the form of his 2nd behind Romeo Coolio (subsequently 2nd to Jasmin De Vaux in Champion Bumper at Cheltenham) at Fairyhouse in January and he followed that up with a hard-fought win over Sky Lord at the same track (arguably hitting the front too soon or idling but always holding the second). He was keen early in his first 2 bumpers and the likely quicker pace here should play to his strengths as he is a very strong traveller. Assuming he jumps fine I think he is way too big at 33s and he looks to be priced up more on Pat Fahy's recent form rather than the horse's ability.
The Grade 1 Mares Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse is a right old puzzle - not least because Willie Mullins saddles 10 of the 18 runner Fun Fun Fun looks the one for me. She won a Grade 3 at Naas last time with real authority and looks to have had this as her main target for some time. I can't have Jade De Grugy so shortly after Cheltenham and Jetara is probably the danger back down in trip. Friends could out run her odds.
Fairyhouse 14,35 Bioluminiscence 8/1 e/w Lads and Coral four places, 7/1 five places others 16,55 Saint Felicien 12/1 e/w Lads and Coral three places, bet365 two places
An interesting runner in the 2.00 at Fairyhouse in the shape of Pacini. He was 3rd in that rated hurdle at Naas which has such a good recent record of throwing up the Fred Winter winner but didn't go to Cheltenham. The first, second and 4th all ran in the Fred Winter and their current ratings make Pacini's mark of 118 look reasonable, especially with the first time blinkers applied. Worth a dabble.
