Hull City Council’s cabinet has today given the green light for a multi-million-pound innovative scheme at the former Hedon Aerodrome with is expected to create thousands of new jobs.

The land, now known as Yorkshire Energy Park, is allocated as part of the Humber Freeport to the east of Hull.

Cabinet’s decision means that implementation of the £200m scheme can go ahead which will act as a catalyst for the Humber ‘Energy Estuary’ provision and green energy storage.

The council previously established an agreement for the land to support its future development, with up to one million square feet of business space, green technology education and sports facilities proposed.

The revised scheme will help to deliver renewable energy, battery storage and state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, as well as space to facilitate research and development in sustainable energy.

This is expected to create around 4,500 jobs, both on and off site as part of the construction phase, for which a target of 80 per cent would be recruited through local employment, bringing a wider impact on the economy.

If you don't do anything wrong you don't have to worry about getting shopped

Perhaps they can download the potholes and the roads with the biggest puddles when it rains.

There are some absolute idiots on the roads these days. This initiative should help catch some of them which can only be a good thing. We are talking of deaths, life changing accidents etc. The twats are the idiots who drive like, err, idiots, not those who help keep the roads safer. If there were more traffic cops, cameras, speed guns etc then some would be kicking off about that too. Can't win!
Anything, within reason, that keeps me, my family and friends safer on the road is absolutely fine with me.
Drive sensibly and you have nothing to be concerned about.

Just like when we were told all the cctv would reduce crime and increase convictions. The ones riding off road motorcycles without reg plates wearing balaclavas and blatantly breaking the law will continue do so and the generally law abiding riders and drivers who make an indiscretion will be made to pay, literally. Don't believe all that "if it saves just one life it will be worth it" rubbish and "if you don't do anything wrong you have nothing to fear"

Fruit Market Hull is welcoming a wave of new businesses to the area, including new dining destinations, a vintage clothing shop and a gym.

The new arrivals are Asian-inspired eatery The Social Distortion, American-style smokehouse The Smoke Room, vintage clothes shop Chinese Laundry, and boutique fitness centre TC60 Hull.

The additions to the Fruit Market community mean Humber Street in the heart of the waterfront quarter is fully occupied for the first time since the regeneration of the area began.

Social Distortion is a great restaurant. I was gutted when they closed on Prinny Ave. They do great vegan options along other meat stuff.
Helps if you like listening to punk music while eating though…which I do.
Not been to their new place (but did go when they had a pop up on Humber St) because I normally just go with Mrs Tash but if there’s only two you can’t book a table, you can only book stools at the bar round the kitchen. Don’t fancy that tbh.
