I'm going to put it out there that for once I'm over the moon it's Sunderland leading the way in development and future proofing.I get fed up of a new portable toilet in Newcastle being "good for the region", be great for the "region" having to hold onto our coat tails for once.

Maybe when the studios are finished we can broadcast a proper local news programme from there. Or even better, get the BBC to start broadcasting from there and turn the bias around. Dawnie would love going to work in Sunderland
The next step of the ladder achieved. It really is going to transform the city. One in the eye for some cock socket of a councillor in Newcastle, who has been stating that the studios should have been built in Newcastle instead. He was right about one thing mind - the transport links to Sunderland are awful. It's up to the City Council, the North East Combined Authority and the Labour Government to make sure that changes. The North East Combined Authority has released £8.6M to allow a detailed costing and business case to be prepared for the re-opening of the Leamside Line, ready for it to be presented to the Government by Spring 2026. I hope that Crown Works is high on the list of reasons why Intercity trains should come to Sunderland, other than from London, and Leamside is the best way to do it.

Brilliant, really pleased this finally going ahead. Must admit I was a little concerned in case the government stopped it as part of their cutbacks. The region is desperate for this kind of major investment.
