Ajax are believed to be interested in signing Swanseaâs goal-keeper Michel Vorm in January after impressing in the Premier League. Vorm signed from Dutch side FC Utrecht in the summer and made his debut against Manchester and despite conceding four he made an incredible eleven saves, more than any other goal-keeper in the previous season, he then went on to impress even more saving a penalty against Wigan ensuring Swanseaâs first points in the Premier League Whilst in his native Holland, Vorm was given the nickname âThe Penalty Killerâ by the Utrecht fans and has seemingly brought that form to the Premier League and could command a fee in the region of £5million. keeper Michel Vorm has been in excellent form this term and is back on the fringes of a spot in the Dutch national team as a result. Interest from Ajax may well tempt the 28 year old into considering a move back to the Eredivisie but boss Brendan Rodgers is sure to fight to keep the custodian who on several occasions this season has been the difference between success and failure. The Welsh clubâs home form has been terrific and Vorm has conceded just two goals in six games at the Liberty Stadium and has become something of a cult hero with the Swansea City fans who will be loathed to lose such a talented performer. The fact that Ajax would be able to offer Vorm European football will become all the more appealing if by January the newly promoted Swans have failed to keep up their early season form.
not so sure, Ajax are a big club that can offer more than us and he will be back in his home land so ill wait and see what vorm says himself....the price is about right so it wont surprise me one bit as it will also give him a better chance of international football....lets see what develops.....
It doesn't matter what Vorm or Ajax want, he's our player for the foreseeable future. Granted he might still move but it would be on our terms. I'd guess that £5 million would be a starting point for his fee.
Vorm has been one of 'THE' outstanding keepers in the Prem so far this season, and one of our top performers, who has kept us in games, and papered over the cracks we have up front, if he went, we would definitely not look so good, and I'm sure that Jenkins, and Rodgers would pull out all the stops to keep him, Dai I don't agree that Ajax would be a pull for Vorm, and the £5 Million price tag that they have thrown out reflect that, can't see him going for under 10 Million, particularly when Manu payed £16 Million for David De Gea, I know which keeper I would choose, and it would be Vorm any day of the week, so Ajax are having a laugh, I'm sure Jenkins will be laughing too, hearing that derisory £5 Million offer!.................. please log in to view this image
To be honest, when we signed him so cheap, and then Tremmel waited an age before agreeing to sign for us as number 2, I wondered whether there was some kind of agreement in place regarding Vorm, and a potential future sale. His value was way above the price we paid, even before we signed him. Al-Habsi cost 4mill, Kasper Schmeical reportedly cost around 1.5mill, and Vorm had been Dutch number two at a world cup and was valued at the same price as them? Really?? My thoughts are that we are a shop window for him, and that he will be sold come the season's end (I doubt in January) for a tidy profit, after helping cement our Premier league status. As has been mentioned in other posts, Tremmel looks a more than handy replacement, and with four keepers on our books it would appear that something has to give.
Well that is a different angle on it mate, I do think that we simply picked up a bargain and were in the right place at the right time, which would suggest our scouts in holland have done their job, and found us a great player. As all players have a price, there is a possibility that he could go in the summer, but it will be over £10m by then I think ! As for the January window, think huw will leave it until the last day, then switch off his mobile
As the saying goes money talks and Ajax have the money but as we have the contract if they do talk it will be our asking price not theirs and that should be minimum 5mil going by what lesser keepers are going for
I think £5m for him would be well under our valuation , but you've got to consider if we lose him, how much will it cost us to replace him for a similar kind of player ? I would think more than what we would sell him for.
Agree with that, and that £10mil would be a more acceptable fee. De Gea £19mil? Vorm £10mil, easy.
Who's your backup keeper scott? De fries or whatever his name was has gone hasn't he? Have to say that vorm is a spectacular keeper.Mind you I suppose you'd rather he just stood there watching wouldn't you with nothing to do.
We signed 3 keepers this summer including Vorm, the other two are a German called Tremmel and a guy from Benfica called Jose Moreira... both have looked ropey to be honest, with Tremmel looking the more impressive of the two. I don't see Vorm going unless for big money, but if he did we'd be straight in the market for a replacement. De Vries went to Wolves...and we're still trying to work out why! Still, worked out alright for us!
Ah ain't seen your other new ones.Don't think you should let vorm go, mind you if you can give me his address I just like to wish him well in person just before our game.Hope he's injured for that one. Your ex keeper's made a boo boo there ain't he sunk without a trace.
Totally! Pre-season he said "It's not about the money" and it looked like, basically, he fancied being at a "Bigger, more established club". Seems he's got plenty of time to think about that decision warming the bench, anyway! The only time I've seen him play for Wolves, the ball hit him on the back and went in, and he got an OG to his name!
Well dorus has made a huge mistake IMO , but we have benefitted by signing a better keeper in his place, I have very little sympathy for him to be honest as he is not our player any longer, and completely irrelevant to our club now. He made his choices he must live by them now, like everything if you had the benefit of hindsight you would make different decisions.
Teams like Ajax were interested in him at the end of last season and he chose us due to the pull of the premier league, also he could have had european football by staying with Utrecht or one of the other clubs that were rumoured to be interested in him so I cant see him going anywhere unless a top top European club come in for him with a price in excess of £8-9 million
