Let’s have a thread that is positive. <cheers>

What are your top 5 match-day experiences as a Hull City fan?

This can be because of the game itself, what happened on that day or because of who you went with etc. (this could get emotional).

    Mine:

    1. Hull City 1 Bristol City 0 (2008)

    - No explanation necessary. We did it!

    2. Hull City 3 Bristol Rovers 0 (2004)

    - Already up. Party atmosphere. Amazing.

    3. Hull City 2 Leeds United 0 (2012)

    - This scoreline flattered the visitors. I’ve never seen us so comfortable. Lovely stuff. And extra special because it was Leeds. UTT.

    4. Hull City 4 Darlington 1 (2003)

    - I just knew this was going to be a win/great performance, and we delivered. I was hopeful of the new players we signed and they were awesome. The team played proper football (very different to BP days) and played the opposition off the park.

    5. Bolton Wanderers 3 Hull City 1 (1998)

    - I was only 11 at the time, but my favourite ground was The Reebok Stadium (and still is). I knew it was going to be special but I did not expect how nice it was going to look on a night match. Don’t remember much about the game itself. <laugh>

Off the top of my head:
1984 Orient 4 Hull City 5 - the biggest comeback since Lazarus, didn't look likely at 4-0 down

1985 Hull City 3 Derby County 2 - always remember it for the injustice of Bobby McNeil getting sent off for stealing yards at a throw in which seemed to galvanise us and sent Big Billy marauding

1987 - TWS 0 Hull City 2 - A win at bellend road is always memorable but two great goals from Alex Dyer (the black George Best) and Garry Parker made it even more so. The game a season later (I think) almost as memorable when we were on the verge of a 3-3 draw with a fantastic long range goal from Steve Doyle but game spoilt by Vinnie Jones getting a late winner for the vermin

2008 Hull City 1 Bristol City 0 - nothing more to be said

2014 Arsenal 3 Hull City 2 - Hull City in a cup final - ****ing hell! A game of fine margins, Alex Bruce's header goes in they were not coming back. Referee gives the throw in the right way they are not scoring - will we ever get back there again?

    1. 1966 City 1 Chelsea 3 FA Cup 6th rd replay. The entire city came to a stop for the is one. Schools emptied at lunch time, we were national news. The ground and pitch looked magnificent under the new lights and over 40,000 packed into the ground, and don't forget we were a 3rd division club at the time. Totally and utterly unforgetable experience.
    2. Scunthorpe United away 1966, Old Show Ground, won 4-2. My first away game as a 12 year old. Allowed to go with mates on the Humber Ferry, then train from New Holland. We were like an invading army. Over 18,000 there, a record for the OSG and 95% of them were City. I thought we were destined for great things because we had one hell of a side in those days.
    3. Sheffield United away Tuesday night, The Battle of Bramall Lane, March 1971 Sheff U 1 Hull City 2. Again over 40,000 in attendance, white hot atmosphere and we beat the league leaders at home after going one down. The memory of Bramall Lane echoing to the chant of HULL CITY, HULL CITY for the last ten minutes of the game will stay with me until my dying day.
    4. Bristol City 0 Hull City 1. Wembley, Never thought I would see City at Wembley. Simple as,
    5. FA Cup Final against that London side. Those first 10/15 mins were as good as it is ever going to get to be a Hull City supporter. We ruled the World that day for a quarter of an hour.
As a reserve...Sheffield wednesday 2 Hull City 4. Our arrival, the away support that mid week night just before Christmas was quite magnificent. Having had years of going to this ****hole of a ground with a bus and a half of us there getting chased all over the place to see thew away end packed to the rafters and the way we steamrolled them on the pitch was something special. You could hear us in Rotherham,
    Magnificent.

-Wembley x 4, all emotional and magnificent occasions.
-Orient Away 4-5 in 1984, yes I was there.
    -City v Watford POSF 2008.
-Spurs away 1981 in the Cup, first big away day for me outside the lower divisions so very memorable for me.
-City v Derby 3-2 1985, a standout game from the Boothferry Park days.

Both Chester and Walsall away in the 80's always worth a mention.

Just some that immediately spring to mind...

2004 Hull City 6-1 Tranmere Rovers
2004 Sheffield Wednesday 2-4 Hull City
2006 Sheffield United 3-2 Hull City (a loss that felt like a win, as did the 2008 Man United 4-3 Hull City game)
2008 Hull City 1-0 Bristol City
    2008 Arsenal 1-2 Hull City

4-1 down at Orient, but kudos for two 'r's' in Parker's first name. Oh and a good choice, I was at all those matches, happy times. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

    1) Bristol City - Playoff final - Obvious reasons!
    2) Arsenal away (2-1) - Amazing day, made even better by cocky Arsenal fans laughing at us on the way to the ground and told us we shouldn't have bothered wasting our time and ended up seeing them again AFTER the game on the tube with very different faces on!
    3) Arsenal - FA Cup final - Lost but what a day.
    4) Fulham away - Manucho. Absolute limbs.
    5) Yeovil away - Proper away day, first promotion I'd witnessed and I loved it.

Notable mention for Stoke away when Barmby scored in the last minute to equalise. Not sure why this sticks in the memory so much but I remember absolutely hating Stoke back then and we went absolutely mental when that equaliser went in.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Cardiff game yet where we went up.

From our penalty onwards I’ve never felt such a rollercoaster of emotions

    2 Scunny Away 1966
    3. Derby v Hull City playoff at Derby
    4. Semi Final against Sheff U
    5. Burnley when Snograss scored a last minute equaliser.
    4. Final against Arsenal

Can't believe I missed out the Derby away game in the playoffs. Brilliant.
Either game against Watford in the playoffs were fantastic too.

Hull 4 Barnet 4, I recall Steve Wilson getting lobbed, we were down, then came back.

Hull 7 Crewe 1, Knees up Linton Brown, most goals I’ve seen us score.

Hull 3 Barnsley 1, Fryatt hat trick, had £5 on Fryatt first scorer & 3-1 the result, I think I got £165 back, possibly more, but I’d also considered the hat trick, but thought better of it!

Hull 5 Sheff Utd 3, First time watching us live at Wembley. Great day out, phone went flat, drank plenty of beer in the pubs round the Stadium!
I’d missed the 2008 Final because I couldn’t get on line, got through on the phone, but was told to go online as they couldn’t get a ticket, to this day, I’m still confused!

Hull 2 Arsenal 3. Gutted, but still a great day out, couldn’t find the City pubs after the game, no internet to find it either, wandered round for an hour, ended up back at my hotel, knackered & drinking a pint there.

That time I went to the bar at half time and got served straight away by someone who understood all the drinks I ordered.

    It was emotional…

Hull City 1 Bristol City 0 at Wembley. The best day of my life.
Arsenal 1 Hull City 2. The best day of our premier league life.
Yeovil 1 Hull City 2. Great celebrations, start of an amazing journey.
Burnley 0 Hull City 2. Missed out on promotion by one goal, never felt so gutted after a game.
Crystal Palace 2 Hull City 1. League cup second leg after winning 1-0 at BP. We were nearly bottom of league 2 and they were Premier League and we went through after extra time on away goals. My favourite ever away game, just a great day out.

Honourable mentions to great away days at Northampton when we scored five, Walsall winning 1-0 to be promoted, Orient from 4-1 down to win 5-4, and Scunny when Sir Les scored the late winner right in front of our packed away end.

Did my list, now realised I should have had a long list before whittling it down as I missed Fulham(a) Manucho goal, Watford(a) play off semi, Cardiff(a) avoiding relegation and Palace(a) in the League cup. Memories, like the corner flags of my mind.

    Others that spring to mind...
Plymouth 0-1 CITY. Meeting FC fans on the way back from Cardiff in M5 service station and being asked to describe Stuart Elliott's goal. I swore blind he was in his box when he shot for the winning goal.
    Watford 0-2 CITY...12.30 ko..piping hot..Play off 1st leg. Great performance...
Watford 0-0 CITY...End of season game. Great atmosphere in the city end with Ashbee in amongst the fans.

    Coventry 0-1 CITY...FA Cup in about 1972 or 73

Bolton 1-1 CITY......***an's late equaliser and Newcastle losing at home to Fulham meant that Premier League survival was doable.

    OK, let's go for:

City 2 - 2 Cardiff, 2013. That bloody 15 minute wait at the end and actually having to cheer on Leeds. Also, the last ever game I went to with my Dad before he passed.
City 3 - 1 Liverpool, 2013. One of the first matches I went to after my Dad passed. And we battered the Scousers.
City 4 - 2 Oxford Utd, 2004. Great atmosphere - almost felt like the birth of the modern era for City.
City 5 - 3 Sheff Utd, 2014. OK, maybe 2nd half only but we reached an FA Cup Final at the end!
Blackburn 1 - 1 City, 2008. First away day in the top flight. Great fun.

Could also mention beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in 2008. When Ashbee headed the winner towards the end it just felt like it was going to be our season. And beating Forest 2-1 at the City Ground, (2012-13) with Macca's Hand of God goal will always be a fond memory.
