I think it’s the sheer volume of injuries and the magnitude of them. Howe maybe has been ill informed by the medical staff. But I can’t believe that is truly the case. The medical teams have to much to lose.
£100m for Isak and £100m for Bruno. Imagine all the Maguires and Solankes we could sign with all that moolah.
Sorry we’re still just a small bollock of a football club with tupenny staff. This doesn’t happen at a competent club. We’re struggling to shake the Ashley structure.
Don't be stupid Roly, teams like Liverpool and Chelsea have also suffered major injuries this season, as well as other clubs. It just seems to be part if the game now, the increased intensity is causing more injuries. It's the same In lots of sports now, like rugby & athletics, you see way more injuries in top level sport these days.
Eveything we do is guesswork. We are not privy to the facts. All we can do is make our own decisions based on what we have seen and read. My opinion is the injury crisis could have been handled better. That is only an opinion. Yours might be that they where handled well.
There is definately more injuries across the board. But we top the charts on the injuries front. And Liverpool seem to be doing ok with all the injuries they have had.
My position is that there have been issues in regards to injuries. I'm just not saying others don't as they do. Nor am I saying it's down to EH as some are as their is a medical team who logically would have to clear a player to play. And their is no credible evidence to say the contrary. As Hamish has already said most Clubs are experiencing more injuries which is no doubt due to the current pressing style that is flavour of the month. Liverpool also have a much better squad than we do and a better pool of young players than we do. Not that that's a surprise.
Indeed I agree with this. I think the next 12 months will be interesting because all teams get injuries. We have had some poor results this season. We are mid table. I can’t say what exactly the reason is so I would suggest it’s a multitude of things. Of which one we are allowed to say and it’s that Howe and his team have made some mistakes. Aswell as bad luck with injuries. Aswell as the Tonali situation. The previous season was a freakish one because so many teams underperformed which meant we got elevated to 4th and that set a benchmark. Not the standard. A target to achieve. And we have not this season.
Not all teams get injuries like a Howe team and we know he's been fielding injured players even when he's had other options. Howe is an Ale House manager! The situation with Botman is pure negligence and Howe is the manager! I called him out on all this way back in November and made a thread. I've seen and heard enough and he needs replacing when a next level manger is interested.
This is the sort of sensible and reasoned post that happens when Obi's wife responds to posts rather than Obi
It's a laughable mental gymnastic this! Newcastle fans have been defending poor results saying we've had injuries and now when Howe's exposed they want to say everyone gets injuries. It's very simple! Howe is the manager and he is responsible for results and looking after the squad. He is responsible for decision making and use of information from his staff. The sign of a crap manager is to blame his staff and tbh I don't think Howe is that kind of worm... he seems a man with honour and dignity. Last season Newcastle did well and he got praise and rightly so, but unfortunately a large portion of our fanbase are now behaving like the sun shines out his arse when he's caught with his pants around his ankles. Will he turn this around and will these injuries just go away next season is the question and imo they won't because Howe is Howe and he will continue doing the same things with the same staff.... others will claim he will and only time will tell.
If offers of £100m came in for each of them, I suspect they'd both be sold. Isak because he's been injury prone, Guimaraes because his release clause would have been triggered. To be honest, I don't really think we'd exclusively sign average players with the proceeds though. Four or five more Bruno, Botman, Isak, Gordon, Tonali level signings would probably/hopefully be incoming off the back of it.
This would never happen... Newcastle are going to go full Howe this summer. I think they'll sign Solanke who's actually a good player despite people's ignorant appraisals. I'm not against 3 of 4 Premier league proven performers this summer... just galvanise the squad and eventually in a few more years they can start signing one or two more adventurous one's. Newcastle are way off at this point in time.
