We've lost two CL finals in the last few years. Do you seriously think losing a QF in the FA Cup is a comparable loss. Two of those losses were hurtful, one was a minor upset. It's not nice losing any game but come on, you're making more of it than any of us. Why? Because you were hoping we'd be more upset than we actually are.
Not pointless - just of less import than the other two competitions we were in. I realise that because it was your last chance of winning something it was massive for you, but try to get your head around the fact that is wasn't as big for us. I want us to win everything, of course - but I don't expect that to happen. We lost - fairly - but now it's done and we still have two more competitions to turn our attention to. Is that really so hard to grasp? Enjoy your win, but don't kid yourself that you've made our world come crashing down round our ears.
To players and managers all competitions are important. The quarter final of a cup is just two games off a trophy and believe it or not the FA cup is seen by most normal people as a BIG Trophy. Losing the way you did after putting in so much effort for 120 mins is gutting for players then your manager whinging about number of games played (despite your kids playing in a high percentage of the extra games) just gives the players a reason to feel sorry for themselves which could harm the big games you have left.
I think you over-estimate your own importance here (that of Man U - not you personally) To think that Liverpool players will be psychologically damaged for the rest of the season by that defeat is fanciful in the extreme. Feel sorry for themselves? Give over, the Spurs debacle would have caused that if it was going to happen - or any of the other injustices - real or perceived - that have occurred this season. The defeat to Arsenal was considerably more painful I promise you. I think Utd are the ones with the psychological issues - after a decade of seeing your belief in an automatic right for dominance descend into relative mediocrity you're desperate to appear relevant again. Get over it, we will.
You seem to be going off views which i have never mentioned, it's nothing to do with the team that beat you more the mannor of the defeat and the stage of the competition. Yes it may be the lesser of the three comps (in the view of supporters, not sure players/managers think that way) but it was still part of the "quadruple" which those same supporters were getting giddy about.
We have already kept two points off your league total, another two would be nice (three would be better ) There is an obvious reason most of our supporters would prefer City or Arsenal to win the league and it has nothing to do with liking them
I've already said this: the "chasing the quadruple" was a media invention, perhaps taken up by some immature 14 year olds on social media, but you wouldn't see many of us shouting about it. We just happened to be still in four competitions for a while. Everyone who qualifies for four is chasing a quadruple by that token - until they're knocked out. I've already said I want us to win everything, and I'm disappointed we were knocked out - but we still have a lot more to interest us for the rest of the season. I think it's you lot who are giddy ones, bigging this up for all it's worth. It's ok, enjoy it - I can remember when we would get excited over beating you when you were winning things. It's only natural.
I understand that. I'd rather anyone other than City won the league. Apart from Utd. It's a long-term rivalry that transcends all others. But we're still not as gutted about the game as you wish we were.
You competing with Everton for that trophy? I think they’re currently holding the ‘we gave up points to city to stop liverpool winning the league’ trophy so you could do the double. Maybe could even hold a joint bus parade with them
Nothing to do with any other team mate, purely a case of united doing as much as possible to stop Liverpool winning the league. The reason is obvious to most
You know the best way of stopping Liverpool winning the league? Win it yourself. When your sole objective is to stop other teams rather than focus on your own that’s when you know your club has become obsolete.
We have been obsolete for a while mate, hopefully we will become relevant again in the nearish future though.
Game was definately made for the neutrals , shocking finishing and passing was something you found in the tunnel at HT / FT. Considering the positions and performances of both teams, this was a decent cup game. Its a good thing that there is another game soon and its where there is more on the line in terms of of the title race.
Can you imagine the hope and having to sufer one bad manager after another while you bleat on about fergie and two forwards and two wingers etc and end up with another negative defensive coach from your new part owner/front man for the glaziers. moyes Van gaal mourinho Agent ole Rangnick Ten Hag southgate. talk about a list of absolute disasters.
