It's not just paint, its at best to prevent corrosion, at worst it's intumescent paint for fire ratings

It's great to say it's just gone through the winter ...

.... I think this initiative is so we can have decent undersoil heating and also be able to improve the revenue stream with concerts.

It seems we're also tendering for every international we can, great news for local pubs, eateries and hotels not to mention SOL staff.

The pitch is reaching the end of its life, the repairs we did 3 years ago where exactly that repairs and it was mentioned at the time there was a 5 year life span left in the pitch. I posted the article earlier in the thread

The way some people are talking you'd think KLD has personally wrecked the SOL in the short time he's been there ...

.... nothing to do with years of neglect from previous owners.

Personally I can live without hand dryers and internet when I go to a football match.

I played in Sunday League without showers, hot water or catering for the players, nevermind the spectators.

It's basically been on the back burner since it became a 49k capacity

Unfortunately times have changed and customer satisfaction creates more income.

    It's not 1986 anymore

If people are so desperate for the internet, at a Sunderland match, I'd say they've completely missed the entire point of being there ...

... no wonder the place was so quiet, on Saturday, if people are fretting about the standard of the PA system.

But, as I've said, I'm all for things being 2026, not 1986.

It's just not my personal priority.

They're a parody these days. They're stuck in their own obsession and feedback loop and are unable to consider any other perspective.

I'm well aware of that, as I've said I'll go along with it all even though I think it's making things worse by 'improving them'.

Half the crowd at Roker made twice the noise we make with twice the crowd at the SOL.

If people value hand dryers and Kylie on the PA more 'important' than a genuine atmosphere I don't mind ...

... but I'm entitled to think it's shyte.

No one said you weren't entitled to think that, but don't treat others with disdain when things like hand dryers are mentioned as being important in the bigger picture

I will if I want and I do.

Are we no longer entitled to say what we honestly believe these days?

Does everyone have to be offended and, if they are, offend someone else?

The atmosphere at the SOL is dreadful compared to how we are at away games.

If I want to treat others with disdain I will, its a free country and my opinion is as valid as yours or anyone else's.

Or are you saying it isn't?

People treat me with disdain, you have yourself quite often .... think about what you're saying.

    I don't care but don't act the innocent ... you're not.

Your view is your view, as out dated as it is.

Knock yourself out, shame you can't see the bigger picture

What is the bigger picture, are you happy with things the way they are?

Do you believe 'the football experience' at the QPR game was better than the same game in 1986?

Saturday was dreadful in almost every way, despite the flag waving kids, run out music, mascots and half time whatever it was.

To be fair the atmosphere took a massive knock when the away fans moved so I don’t see that changing anytime soon. But I don’t really want to open that can of worms again.

Very pleased overall with the announcement.

Now all we need is a decent manager.

Football has moved on, congratulations for attending a million games since moses was a boy.

In 2024, its customer satisfaction, pennies in the pot and making off the field make as much money as possible.

Best thing the club could do is extend the east stand and put in more corporate facilities, that makes better money which funds the club.

Harsh reality but corporate is quick wins over atmosphere

Not for the people who actually matter, us.

You keep saying you're thinking of jacking it in and not bothering with football ...

... why is that if it's so much better than it used to be?

You can't have it both ways.

    Again welcome to football 2024.

And it does matter to us, because every extra pound the club makes 70% of it goes to the budget for playing staff and players.

    The joys of sustainability
