So you lost to a team that trips over opportunities that are much easier to score. That is just pure bitterness! Most of the massages here seem to assume that the game was already a foregone conclusion and that Liverpool gave the game away than to acknowledge that you lost to a side that was spirited to win on the day. It is killing most of you to simply admit that you met your match today which you didn’t expect. I know I didn’t given the way we have performed this season. But there’s no need writing a long coulda/shoulda essays about it as though you were robbed.
I only wrote one line on our match thread because i was going out. First two words i wrote were Dreading this
Er, mate - is English your second language? Read that again will you? Which team did you think I was talking about tripping over the ball? I presume you're pissed though, in fairness. I probably would be. But try reading my posts again and show me where the arrogance is, though I appreciate that English comprehension isn't your strong point.
The Daily Telegraph calls it the best FA Cup match in history ever. ITV calls it an historic epic with a comeback of monumental proportions. Great match for the neutrals but all this hyperbole by the media is really OTT
Just got to suck it up and bend over. I do know this though - if those players are not up for the league meeting at OT after really letting Jurgen down today, then they're beyond redemption, some of them. I'm not going to slag off various players again as it's a waste of energy and is being seen by some visitors as sour grapes - and it isn't as United deserved to win because they really showed balls and some talented, but out-of-form players found their balls again. But if our players (especially one or two of them that just didn't display big-game clinical thinking today) may as well ship out in the summer. And with that, I'm off social media until Easter Day and the Brighton game.
i really cannot remember any other occasion when we were so heavy favourites at OT. When have we ever been 1-4 odds on to win at their place?
Manchester United have benefitted from our injury crisis, nevertheless, we played well enough to win, but was not to be.
Thought we were well off the pace yesterday, really poor and utd deserved the win. There was a 15 minute period in the 2nd half where we had about 100% possession, but just passed it around doing nothing. The only comfort is that utd will inevitably lose the final
It’s weird because after the first 15 mins when we went 1-0 down we pretty much dominated and if it ended 2-1 would say was fully deserved. We just tried to see the game out a bit too much - maybe Thursday took its toll and players were trying to just get through it. Can’t be too harsh on this team, been brilliant this season and a goal from Antony’s right foot (let’s be real it’s the first time in about 10 years he’s actually used it) we’d have gone through.
Odds simply reflect the opinion of people who bet on football games - they're not a measure of probability.
the thing was thst utd didn't even try to take the ball off us and were meekly going to their fate until vvd made a lazy swipe at a ball and it fell to midfield where we do what we do everyone goes toy hr ball and fail to get it do they were straight in. as I said we left szobo and salah on for 90mins thursday night. szobo couldn't run.yesterday compared to his level and it was so obvious. klopp moved him to the left side to reinforce the right side channel salah couldn't press either. we still took the lead back in extra time and again made a ridiculous stupid error no pro footballer should.ever do. kelleher throws it out too quick to nunez who proceded to brain fact into the middle. if the team at least was given 10 seconds to get set we would have not conceded. if nunez had parked his arse on eriksen and we pumped it at that channel we might have been OK but no. we see a player wander aimlessly infield into not one but two utd players when he has a simple back pass on. he got exactly what he deserved. utd could have won that game in the first 25mins but after that fell apart which is exactly what they have done many mnay times this season. we have simply cracked. we had the chance to rest players on thursday but we rested cbs and fullbacks not cms and forwards. we had not got the legs to play but were still leading twice. the fact is if we had a man sent off we could find the wit to play 441 and defend but with 11 we were doing all the usual silly things like 3 players closing the one man in a half press with all the outball in the world uncovered we went for a corner, putting everyone up and the two soft lads outside the box construed to get in each others way and let it bounce. that says it all.
yet the media are already talking about city's double Treble. city are now the red hot favourites for the treble (despite having to get past real)
I think I've expressed my absolute disdain for sports hacks often enough on here. I really take no notice of them - there are far too many of them trying to steal a living talking nonsense.
yes they are. they don't even have the good grace to be openly drunks that have no interest in being seen any more. they have to pretend to be dripping in rolexes and post on insta constantly
Of course not an exact reflection. It however indicates the relative strength and ranking of the teams at that point in time. Bookies and gamblers go on probabilities or at least some weight to them. To lose the quadruple by them rankles. Not too bad if we were out to any other team. But as many said here let’s now focus on the Treble.
Well, as I'm sure you know, bookies start with base odds according to their own opinions, then they constantly adjust them according to the betting so as make sure they win no matter what. They only occasionally get it wrong from their point of view. If the odds you quoted are right (I don't gamble so I didn't look) then obviously too many deluded scousers have been throwing their dosh at it. I never think any game is a foregone conclusion - certainly not a game against Utd, so those odds were daft. However, as you say, it's over now and we move on. But the "Liverpool are chasing the quadruple" was more media hyperbole - we just happened to be in four competitions still. Now it's down to three and we try to win them all - but I still wouldn't use the chasing the treble terminology. It's just journospeak.
