Spot on Wiz regarding LM. As to Nige.. I believe he had the intention of building the playing squad using academy along the way, I’m not even sure he was fussed about funds.. I actually think his mindset going down that path was spot on.. Problem was, it was never gonna happen quickly enough as the championship is relentless and so competitive. When results go against you it adds so much pressure.. I think his health played a massive part in him continuing the job in hand.. that’s my take.. I think LM also has the added pressure as he’s learning at this level as he goes along.. I still see what he’s trying to do but I think he doesn’t have enough players that fit the bill to achieve what he wants to do.. I find it a bit strange that certain fans are restless regarding his position being we’ve not had any proper success since AD back in the late 70s.. it’s not like that we’ve been blessed with successful managers knocking on our door.. LMs decent imo and needs time and funds in what he wants to do and hopefully backing from the fans…. I understand fans will react with results, so it’s a fine balance how it all plays out..
The crap he spouts is meaningless waffle, straight from coaching manuals. Maybe the problem is that you are impressed with it, whereas I can see through it. The guy is out of his depths and reverts to jargon to baffle and impress. The bottom line is we are disjointed, he doesn’t take any responsibility, and continually blames the players for his own misgivings.
The players here might not suit his style of play so it’s really simple. He has to adapt and play a style which suits the players we currently have, he’s been here long enough and hasn’t changed anything. he’s similar to LJ because everything he does is perfect and it’s everyone else who is the issue. He has to take some of the blame for what’s going on.
Spot on, the occasions he has adapted and played to our strengths is the times we’ve looked good, but then he reverts to type and we struggle. Instead of blaming the players if he had the humility to realise the problem is his inability to adapt, then maybe we can turn this around. A good coach is someone not led by dogma, but one who adapts to what he has available to him and gets the most out of it.
I disagree.. I think he needs to keep going with it allowing it to come together, of course not get relegated, but then bring the right players in to compliment how he wants it to look..Otherwise it won’t change.. I think patience is required to let him get on with it imo…
On what grounds are you basing your suggestion he should be allowed more time and money?. Do you disagree our form since his arrival has been relegation form, and if so why would we allow him time and money, elaborate
Red Robin, Ashton and Tom.. we will never agree with the current situation unless there’s a change of results.. I personally can see what he’s trying to achieve and how he wants to go about it.. You are all still grieving that Nige has gone, I’ve got over it as I never knew any style on how he wanted the team.. I hated the sit and wasn’t keen on most of his tactics.. which I had pointed out on numerous occasions.. I’m happy that LM is trying a different approach and of course I know it won’t happen overnight. I want him to have the time to get it sorted and see where it takes us.. I also don’t see, what manager will come in and make us successful anytime soon..
I genuinely believe if we just carry on as we are we will be relegated next season. The fans already are seeing the writing on the wall and that’s why they are so anti BT & I’m afraid LM as well. In the past the fans have just taken it lying down, they may well do again, or maybe this will be the last straw.
You are just wrong, my criticism is of Manning, it has nothing to do with Nige, I criticise him based on my observations of his performance, his attitude and yes of course his results. It’s a fact our results since he’s arrived is relegation form. The one advantage of appointing a manager/coach mid season is it allows you the remainder of the season to assess him. He has systematically destroyed any positives we had when he arrived, he doesn’t accept he is at all complicit in our demise. He criticises the player’s inability to adapt whilst ignoring his own. I could go on, but the truth is he isn’t good enough, and by refusing to see his own shortcomings I can’t see how he’d going to learn on the job, as BT puts it.
Unlike you, for the reasons I’ve given, he doesn’t have mine, and I hope his days are numbered. Unless of course he adapts, I’ve no problem with him changing our approach, but it needs to be evolution, not revolution. He’s got the rest of the season, if he stays, to win me around.
I think under Nige we are also at risk of being in a relegation fight. That’s because Nige bought too many L1 players, hoping to turn them into gems.
FWIW I didn’t expect us to go to the Hawthorns and bring back 3 points - one point would have been a good result. So yesterday’s result wasn’t exactly a surprise. The QPR and Sheffield Wednesday games were 2 we should have won - and arguably Cardiff. Those were more worrying to me than losing to WBA. If we lose to Leicester next game would that be a surprise either? Not for me - and I wouldn’t be confident in that fixture with Nige in charge either. Would anyone, given Leicester’s goal tally and league position? As for Manning; I’m with 1For, Supcon and Wiz in that I think he should be given more time. That doesn’t make me a ‘happy clapper’ - I’m neither happy nor clapping. I’m concerned about recent form and results. I just don’t trust JL and Tinnion to appoint anyone else decent that’s all. If we drop into the bottom 3 then yes he will have to go, but aren’t we only 2 wins away from last seasons tally?
Do you think he brought in L1 players over championship players?, he had no choice, that was the pond we were fishing in. Tbf it’s the pond Liam will be fishing in as well. As a club we’ve decided not to buy championship standard players, we can’t afford the fee or wages. We have to buy L1 , L2 youngsters, bring them on in the hope of making a profit out of them.
