Coupled with the fact that the manager was told the aim was 17th tbf. I hated Bruce he was big useless oaf, but I remember fans saying we would get relegated in his 1st season and then the 2nd which never materialised and zero credit was given. Then eventually they got their victim nailed down , but they genuinely didn't expect him to do so well in the 1st two seasons in which he even had a couple of good cup runs. It's basically about credit and criticism and there has to be a balance or you're just being unfair. Howes was brilliant last season and this season has been poor... that's the facts. He needs results and then I will credit him of course .. it's not hard.
I agree. The fact is we are having a very average season positionally. Look at Villa who we beat twice. They are 15 points ahead of us. We are out of all cups. 10th in the league. Have we made any progress from last season? We have had a bad injury hit season.
There's not cracks appearing. I think he had been doing well and was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as a result of the injuries and the suspension to Tonali. I still appreciate what he did in keeping us up and what he did last season. However, the continued use of Burn is alarming. Initially I thought it might be he didn't rate Hall and didn't want to trigger a transfer clause, now that has been proved isn't the case, there's no excuse. Same with the limited game time afforded to Livramento. I still maintain to a certain degree he has been forced to play Longstaff due to the limited availability of others for the majority of this season. Again there is now options with the return of Willock, Anderson and Miley. The decision to not upgrade Miggy in the summer was the dumbest ****ing move ever. I'll lay this one square at the feet of Ashworth. The squad's clearly aged badly this year. Dubravka's positioning and reflexes are so ****ing **** it's not funny. Schar has gone backwards as has Burn, Wilson and Tripper and Longstaff has been out of form for ages. Miggy's always been limited other than his 8 goal purple patch. Jumping to conclusions in the middle of an injury crisis with no breaks between games was far too premature in my opinion with regards to calling for Howe's head. I also like to decide things for myself with my own 2 eyes rather than follow. I'm now of the opinion that there's no point just saying "give him till Christmas" because then were wasting a massive transfer window. If it's just give him till Christmas we're as well just pulling the trigger now. Nothing worse than watching a dead man walking. Thing that's played on my mind in recent weeks is just how bad Callum Wilson's entire career has been, even before he came to us, then remembered who managed him before and my worry is how often will we miss the likes of Isak and Gordon to injuries?
Fair and valid points. So do we sack him now, the end of the season or after 10 games of next season. It’s clear it’s not working. Progress has halted and we are now going backwards.
When a manager has refused to change the areas everyone was crying for him for change for months until the season has got away from the club then he's going to get criticism. If he'd stuck with them and it worked he'd get praise and that was what he went for..He made his decision and saw it through until the bitter end and he has to take responsibility now. He needs a good finish to the season and he needs to play Hall and Miley for longstaff and Burn.
It’s the Burn Longstaff Miggy Problem for sure. He can’t blame injuries now. So let’s see how the rest of this season pans out.
Given the availability of 2 champions league winning managers right now, plus their backroom teams and nowt to play for, your as well just saying **** it. Season has been a complete ****ing wash out from the Liverpool home game. Last year we went at teams and couldn't give a **** about their reputation, this year we looked scared ****less. That's down to confidence and that's down to the manager and the coaching team.
The two available are Mourinho and who? Genuine question. I also agree. Why piss about. Having said that we have two home games coming up. West Ham and Everton. We simply have to win both games.
I thought Anderson played well Yesterday aswel.. made some kind of impact vs the best side in the world. Longstaff made no impact whatsoever.. at least Anderson was close enough to snap at their heels. Longstaff is yards off away every single time... think he touched the ball about 10 times.
Rafa. Not saying either would be my preference but let's be honest here, Jose is mentioned so much he's lingering like a cloud over every manager the way Shearer was for a while and Rafa is close with Staveley.
I keep hearing people talking about bad form.. he's had a handful of good games in his career.. it's not dips in form it's rare peaks. It's becoming frustrating still having to experience this with him over and over and over again.
https://x.com/gw850/status/1769120742292037698?s=20 Bruno’s words “10 games to save our season”. Save. Past tense. Meaning currently it’s a disaster.
Thing that's really pissing me off is I despise Villa and Spurs and Man Utd and don't want any of them getting CL
He's going to be sold aswel which is depressing. If there was one player I'd want to keep it's him. There's no guarantee they won't use the money to bring in Calvin Phillips Billing and Solanke. It's very concerning.
Yes it's why he's even at the club in the 1st place. I can guarantee better players have been lost to get him this far.
Thats the other thing we have always said we have a favourable run and winnable games coming up but looked god awful against teams like Forest, Luton and Bournemouth you don't get much more beatable teams than that so there's no guarantee of anything.
