Yep, you and I said it many times, build a squad of players from L1-2, don’t be surprised if that’s where you end up. LM is now feeling the lack of investment in quality, particularly attacking quality that we lack to be consistent in this league. I do blame Nige for not sorting out our attacking deficiencies, he stated many times he wouldn’t bring in players that weren’t better than we had, so for me he failed us there. As he assessed what we had was good enough - it isn’t!!!! How much of that was him and how much he was backed we will probably never know; however, as has happened with previous managers, he will be judged on here, rightly or wrongly by these failings that have been hoisted on the shoulders of the manager , Nige doesn’t get a pass from me, so has too be held as accountable as LJ. If, in 2-3 seasons (if he’s given as long as Nige) LM fails, he also has to wear that criticism.
Carry on like this and no way will LM get 2 or 3 years. The fans were divided by LJs appointment. With LM it seems worse. Never thought that could happen. I'm still hoping LM can turn it around. Must be Mrs RPs Vouvray
Nigel did, and it was no better. Sio, because you’re a bigger name you get longer? Surely it’s the other way around…
He’s not a RB in a million years. £2m spent on this guy…. Not looking like value for money to me so far.
The guy is deluded -where is he coming from can’t see him here by the end of March 8 points of bottom three 27 points left to play for.
Personally think best not to judge him till next season. His injury was horrendous, it’s a miracle he’s playing at all yet.
Sorry I can’t even listen to it, I know exactly what he’ll say, system was right players didn’t implement it properly. Same old, same old. Until he realises the buck stops with him and he’s not playing the correct system for the players we have, then we’ll keep getting the same problem. Liam you are the problem, not the players. Sort yourself out.
He’s going to end up as one of our better signings given more playing time, has something about him, decent player
One of the many things the commentators said today was that Liam Manning was essentially an academy coach and that is reflected in some of the ways Bristol City set themselves up. I thought that was slightly off base but you know there is some element of truth in it because his managing pedigree is a long way off from the standard required to make a poor Championship squad better with the same players at hand. Apart from that comment I am a true believer that our squad has been falsely built up to more than they are, which consists mainly of guys that may do a lot better in League One, and that inevitably leads to the question as to why our owners think other than what the results under 2 managers have clearly shown. For decades now we have been essentially the same in regards to our performances and the hope of any progress is disappearing below the horizon faster than a speeding bullet and yet the people who should dislike those facts just turn and look the other way. How hopeless is that?
But if we win it's all to do with NP's signings......VAR imo would have ruled out their first goal, then who knows after that.. Tricky to right 3 years of failure overnight.........we need to improve the squad with some quality signings......my glass remains half full.
I'm trying like hell to stay 'half full' like 1For.......but......lose a few more after 5 losses from 6 and I'm not sure, for the first time, that he'll be sacked before the season end. My hope is Williams and James will return after the International break which will help Twine and Knight in particular and get us through to May safely. I think we'll do OK against Leicester as their style will suit Manningball and give him some breathing space. I'm willing some quality signings this summer to improve Manningball because right now it's mind numbing and killing the game for those who choose to watch.
I do get that the football is marmite, I quite like it but needs to be quicker and more precise.. It’s where some of the quality required, we lack..
I don't want or appear to be a hypocrite and freely admit I wanted LJ out of our club, I thought he was Lansdown's muppet and had no regrets when he left, when Nige joined I had huge doubts knowing his reputation, he in my opinion transformed our club on and off the field across the spectrum and if we didn't have a feeble chairman he would have completed his task with reasonable support, it was disgusting and weak the way he was given the boot but that is now history and has to be accepted, I am in the same camp as One4 & Supcon, I believe LM has the necessary qualities to become a very successful headcoach but it's essential he is given time and support, he doesn't waffle or make excuses, he is not arrogant or a vituosa, he comes across to me as a determined, honest character who is commited and gives his all, my major concern is our dynamic duo in charge will throw him to the dogs to cover their own arses, he can't win.
Wiz has it summed up-Junior and Tinnion will want to save grace and Manning will be put under the bus. I really believe by March end it will end in tears. The football club have lost the fans when the happens it is a one way ticket. As soon as Tinnion had to come out and back LM that was the start of the decline.
