My bets Day 4 Triumph Nurburgring 16/1 e/w (Burdett Road 20/1 e/w NR) County L'Eau Du Sud 14/1 e/w Albert Bartlett Chigorin 16/1 e/w (Walk Away Harry 33/1 e/w NR) (Shanagh Bob 20/1 e/w NR) Gold Cup Fastorslow 20/1 e/w Hunters' Chase Sine Nomine 16/1 e/w (Hitak 12/1 e/w NRNB) Mares Chase Limerick Lace 7/1 Martin Pipe What's Up Darling 16/1 e/w
My understanding is there are no jockey claims in the Martin Pipe - correct? Sporting Life and Racing Post not showing any.
I think that’s correct odddy. If you are looking at that angle the winningmost jockeys in the race are Shane Fitzgerald (Yeats Star), Mark McDonagh (Thanksforthehelp), Niall Houlihan (Teddy Blue) and Patrick Wadge (Bingoo).
Have had a first look at the Hunter Chase field and ol boy Samcro is in the field. Would love to see him run a good race. 16/1 worth a little ew interest.
Hoping that Galopin des Champs reclaims his crown today - reminds me of the Gold Cups that Best Mate used to win though (substandard) From a betting point of view I have a 5 horse acca potentially coming in today….if Dinoblue wins the Mares chase. Not taking anything for granted though!!
The stats don't really help for the Triumph Hurdle - the only thing of note is that Salvator Mundi meets 0 of the trends so he will probably win. It looks like being a case of Mullins squad from the Spring Juvenile Hurdle taking on Salver and on paper (or at least on official ratings and race times) Salver should have no chance BUT I would give him a squeak as he remains unexposed. The Spring Juvenile form is very difficult to unpick, given that they will all be improving at different rates but I think the one to take from it might be Tony Bloom's Bunting. He won on debut on soft in France (flat race) and then dotted up on his yard debut on heavy at Limerick. He conceded first run to the others at the DRF but stayed on admirably up the straight and I think he can go very close today if ridden a little more prominently.
The County Hurdle fits with the theme of the week as it has largely been a case of Dan Skelton or Willie Mullins in recent years (won 8 of the last 9 runnings between them) and I think Skelton has the better candidates this year - but I can't decide which. He might even get the 1-2.
Darts for today 1.30 Mighty Bandit e/w 2.10 Petit Tonnerre e/w (also have in an e/w double with Monmiral) and By your side e/w 2.50 Chigorin e/w 3.30 Bravemansgame e/w and win without fav 4.10 Quintins Man without first 2 in betting 5.30 Angels Breath 7 Jason the Militant e/w
I think the Brits have a strong hand in the Albert Bartlett with Captain Teague, Gidleigh Park and even Harry Redknapp's The Jukebox Man looking likely types. I have a feeling in my waters for Gidleigh Park.
The JCB Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham(13:30), a Class-1 race over a distance just short of 2m1f on heavy ground, is a real corker to start the last day at the Festival. Think top trainer Gary Moore is going to have a right 'go' at this as I noted that he has managed to get top jockey, Gavin Sheehan, to ride his charge. Quite often uses younger conditional riders (successfully, I might add), to ride his horses. So, the selection is the Motivator gelding (Damsire: Monsun), Salver. Unbeaten so far and am very hopeful of him running a big race for the yard. 9/1 (Coral/BetVictor) top price early-doors at time of writing, on the ATR site. E/W best option at these odds.
Friday 1:30 Kargese, Storm Heart 2:10 Leau du Sud for me. Bialystok the alternative but By Your Side could run a big race at huge odds. 2:50 Stellar Story ew 3:30 Favourite should win but Gerri Colombe is the value ew (he was double figures when I wrote that) 4:10 It's On The Line 4:50 Dinoblue (although it doesnt like its the one McManus wants) 5:30 Yeats Star ew
1.30: Bunting ew 2.10: Favoir 2.50: Captain Teague ew 3.30: The Real Whacker ew 4.10: Its on the line 4.50: Limerick Lace 5:30: no bet
