Come on own up, who's hacked Prehabs account, that's far too positive Someone must have got out of the right side of the bed this morning Only joking mate
There are always patterns, on forums, which are easily missed unless you sit back and take the long view. It's too easy to be so intense, and convinced of your point, you can't see what's in front of you or how you're coming across to other people. In fact a reasonable point, which others may actually consider, is sometimes destroyed by someone stretching it too far, repeating it too often and suggesting others are gullible if they can't see what they so clearly and easily can. There never seems any moment where they'll take a breather, sit back and consider how their endless attacks come across ... it's relentless. As I mentioned, there are patterns on forums. I've noticed recently that people are often posting, "I mentioned 'xxxxxx' a few months back and took absolute pelters for it'. When I look back at what they'd said they didn't take pelters at all and weren't hammered for their opinion. What happens, more often than not, is that they put forward an opinion as fact, other people respond politely, with a contrary opinion, and it's met with an increasingly angry response. It's actually those responding who take flak for daring to disagree, but even if the initial post is ignored they'll come back months later claiming that they took pelters ... ... I think it's quite likely that some like to see themselves as bravely suffering attacks while trying to get the naive happy clappers to see the truth, their truth. Every Sunderland supporter can see we need more experience, key positions filling and improvements off the pitch ... ... we just don't need to cut&paste that every half an hour as if only we are clever enough to have realised.
The difference between a model succeeding and failing is the attitude of the people implementing it. There has to be constant reevaluation of how it's going and what you need to continue its success. Most fail because the people implementing it get stuck at a particular stage, either through lack of money, will or talent, or too much ego, and can't or won't evolve the model to adapt to changing circumstances. All of what we would generally consider to be successful models - Brighton, Liverpool, Brentford - have evolved over the years. This is where we are at the moment. Whether we evolve or not is up to KLD and KS. We keep being told the money and the will is there. There's no doubt they've improved the club, it's how much further they can go.
I have always said the job that has been done is good. But I will also call out things that are not so good. Would be a boring place if everyone just posted positive stuff all the time when certain things not like that.
We'll probably find out this summer. This is the first real bump in the road so it's the first time we see how they react.
For my two pence worth, for this all to work, everyone has to work together on the football side, the off the pitch stuff is totally different. On the pitch side KLD will set the budget I suppose and then it's all down to KS and the head coach. I think since we got promoted that relationship has broken down a few times. Neil, Mowbray and Beale all came out and said the same thing - even on here we've said the same thing - we have a good team but we don't have that experience to drag the kids through the tough times. All 3 coaches said they wanted that bit of experience in the side and whether that was KS saying no we're sticking with kids or the budget couldn't stretch to cover the fee, wages etc, I doubt we'll ever really know. Hopefully this season has opened everybody's eyes - KLD included - that we need that experience and to get it we need to pay the going rate.
KLD has a huge investment in terms of money, time, effort and reputation ... ... KS has his ego, reputation and current/future employment on the line which I'd imagine is pretty important to him. It's beyond any doubt, in my mind, that the club want promotion and progress ... ... if you, or anyone else, can give me one decent reason why that's not the case I'm all ears. I've seen all kinds of vague suggestions but nothing that really made any commercial or practical sense.
Wanting promotion and progress and having the ability to deliver promotion and progress are two different things. They did it from League 1 to the championship, can they step it up again. I'm not doubting their ambition.
Sounds good on paper, the problem is that the people calling out problems do it so loudly and often that it completely drowns out anyone wanting to stay positive, and it makes this place unbearable for long periods of time. It's not ideal when we're all struggling to keep our heads up when we're having a rough patch.
We arent in as bad a place as some make out tho Have results n performances been good enough recently, nope not at all. But we also have the makings of a cracking team/squad n with a few additions we can challenge for the playoffs next season We nail the managerial appt and we will do well We've been in far worse positions in our history n if i look at how some clubs are ran then im pleased with where we are going
I think that's what got everyone niggling at each other at times. We all know we've got a decent side but we're only a few players away from being a really good side - it can be frustrating
Definitely, folk also judge everything on the most recent results Weve lost 6 on the bounce, which is unacceptable, but that will dictate how folk feel about everything
As the Mags are clearly demonstrating, with all their moaning, some supporters will always look on the black side. If they're knocked out of the FA Cup they'll be revolting The problem with the 'realists', on here, is that they need to look at their own model and give it some flex and a few tweaks ... ... it's unrelentingly gloomy and arrogant. It's as if failing to continually moan means you're a gullible club dope who doesn't realise we've failed this season ... ... some seem to believe only they've noticed our strikers aren't scoring and have to tell us every twenty minutes. And now we're expected to believe we 'lost' Neil despite him getting his own way at Stoke and failing miserably.
