What the **** are we doing in training, preparation etc. Our fitness and medical team. Been like this for a few seasons now, I know some of the injuries have been in game but surely there's something amiss here, no coincidence.
Yep,got to say,it's been a worry for a while. It may just be a horrible coincidence.....but a series, over time, of horrible coincidences becomes a little harder to understand.
Do you think that our players are trying too hard during training. We keep hearing that players are being picked because they are really good in training so maybe they are training with an intensity far more than normal training because they think if they don’t they will not get picked. Trying too hard basically. McGeady would never have made the first team if they are picked on how the training goes.
It's not all Riggs fault, but Mogga did say he had to curb his enthusiasm in training because anything above grass high didn't move again
Anyone believe that when confidence is low the body reacts differently, picks knocks up easy, strains and sprains?
I don't usually bother commenting, on this, but you're right imo. I've never seen any training routines that can injure trained athletes tbh. Surely none can replicate the rigours of an actual game ... ... blaming the club seems a bit extreme imo.
This study suggests that the Christmas period is a high point for injuries occurring in the Premier League. So could be similar for the Championship. It also suggests that most injuries are the result of 'overuse' which probably equates to not enough rest. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/ar...injuries during, matches are concentrated [18]. This study on youth football suggests the January to March period is when most injuries occur. https://exercise.research.southwale...ngth-training-and-performance-youth-football/ Both would kind of be consistent with us regularly having lots of injuries at this time of year. So it would seem that we're just coming out of the part of the season when most injuries occur. Its more to do with the number of fixtures and the accumulation of games played than something specific to SAFC.
I know im probably just lashing out through frustration here but Alese and Cirkin have been a complete waste of time and wages over the past 18 months, and having them both picking up injury after injury is highly frustrating. I mean Cirkin spend nearly 2 months out with concussion ffs. Hume and Ballard are the only 2 defensive recruitment's weve made that have given us value for money.
Cirkin is certainly injury prone - I don't think you can complain about the concussions as they wouldn't have been his decision in terms of how long he's out for. Don't forget he was bloody brave scoring that goal at Milwall when their coward of a keeper wiped him out. The muscle injuries are a concern but hopefully this operation will fix the issue in the long term. Don't forget he's only 21 and his body could still be growing. Alese was rushed back needlessly and this current set on injuries appear to be a direct result of that mad decision. I have fewer worries about him than I do Cirkin As for Dack - almost as many injuries as 1st team starts. We knew he'd be a bad signing and what do you know....he's ended up being a bad signing.
II would add O/9 to those two, left back has been a headache this season, but we should scrape by this weekend , its a ready made excuse play an attacking team from the off , a 4- 3 home win would be just the tonic .
