What a **** Champion Hurdle, worst field I can ever remember. Henderson must feel pig sick thinking of what might've been especially with Luccia running 3rd. Decent winner but nowhere near top class. The ground has made these races into a right old slog, and buried many horses chances. Don't think there are many top horses running today but Lossiemouth could be the real deal.

I can never understand why there has to be other meetings clashing with the Cheltenham festival

So, Lossiemouth really might be the real deal ! Mullins benefit day again ffs . Right now let's have some nice winners in the rest of the races.

Two fatalities on day one really does put a dampener on proceedings.

Or Sir Gino. Shame if the yard has a bug around, Luccia ran creditably though, some hope maybe.

I can't help feel Henderson and his training operation is waning quite badly. I wonder how involved he is in the day to day operations of things, I doubt he is as hands on as he once was. The way he's been cotton balling them all in recent years is a reflection of his own fragility I feel. I don't think there is any hunger there any more and he's slowly riding his own horse towards the setting Sun, on what has been an illustrious career.

Why the Cheltenham Festival though, as opposed to the GN, Derby, KG? I doubt they are actually "clashing" Steve

Clashes with the Grand National and the Derby are even worse.
Racing has got to completely showcase its major events just to get a look in these days

    without a doubt
I had two options for the comp - Corbetts Criss or Quixilios. Obviously I picked the latter <laugh>

    not good at all.
I was hopeful today given the heavy slow ground there wouldn’t be any.

I only say they don't actually "clash" is that they aren't actually in competition with those events any moreso than any non horse racing events on the same day. I suppose it enables jockeys etc (who aren't up to being involved in such major events) to earn a wage :)

I was quite underwhelmed by today until the last race. I backed Embassy Gardens but was blown away by Corbett’s Cross - he has a big, big future.

I think he is very useful beyond 3 miles given average opposition. That was a piss poor race, barring the two Irish horses. See better races around Navan on a Sunday afternoon in November. He could be a Grand National horse but he isn't classy enough for a Gold Cup imo, unless it comes up bottomless and the field is again, very average.

You have obviously become a very hard man to impress. Gaelic Warrior and Lossiemouth were both sensational the way they went about their business.
Also, Chianti Classico turned in a superb performance to win a handicap from a supposed Irish good thing.
