The more ITK stuff I see posted ahead of time the more I think it's unhelpful. Fills us with ideas and when something falls through we throw a tantrum. I dont think the club are using PR/media to control fan's expectations very well at the moment. Think that could do with some work.
Agree with a lot of that and, whilst I agree the table doesn’t lie, that’s not what I mean when I say “over-achieved” I mean the team and squad as a whole were nowhere near ready for a play off or promotion push. It is a much better league quality wise this season as well. We win our remaining games and we’ll be back in the playoff party. I know we won’t but it’s still there. I don’t know what will happen in the summer. I do know we are in a good financial standpoint, and I’d rather be there than needing promotion to avoid sanctions like others. If 5 clubs spend silly and need promotion to sustain their place, at least 2 are going to get done. And if they are up against parachute payments then they are in the ****!
On Saturday Soton goals 3 and 4 were if my memory is correct scored on the break 4 on 3. I think if Corry Evans had been playing he would have spotted the danger. Hasn’t Styles played that role, he would be better in that role than out on the right.
I didn't realise you had said we had over achieved mate. Commentors were saying it when we got to the playoffs last seaon and I've had it said to me during conversations. A agree we're in a better position than most, but i was we had a few more points on the board as we really are in a free fall as it stands. I can't see where out next win is coming from but we can't loose for ever, but at this rate we're looking like we're going to get some unwanted loss records. But, we shall see
Yep, my point being why is/was it said we were "over achieving", even as we're kicking off in the playoffs? We had a good team, Amad running wild, Solid defensive pair, Evans missing this seaon shows how much of job he does.We were chipping with goals from all over the pitch. We had our injuries of course so I don't know why we "over achieved" last seaon. Just because we've fallen away this year shouldn't take away from what we done last year. Oddly as I type this a mate of mine has sent me a what's app or Amad deleting all man u stuff from instergram. lol. How've you been Smug?
Interesting question mate. Early days with him. Maybe his youth development will give him a chance in there, he should have the technical foundations. Personally I have seen worrying signs with him. Positionally he can be a bit harem scarem, and he looks a bit slow on the turn. Slow on the turn would be a problem in CM. This isnt me writing him off, plenty of time to grow and impress, I would probably shy away from him an a CM role just now personally. Iny opinion CM is the hardest role on the pitch to play. You need a 360 degree of the pitch, you have to be able to receive under real pressure and play on the half turn. I think it is one you ideally would play in from a young age and not come to later. John Stones must be getting grief from his fellow defenders right now for how he is playing all over the park. He is a bit of a freak though is Stones at the elite level.
Not sure if you seen but Triantis played holding midfield for Hibs last night against Rangers and seemed to impress. Wonder if he has a future there.
Having seen Triantis play for the u21's I would never had said he could play cdm. A Danny bath type centre half, yes could see it easily.
I did see it somewhere but not watched any of the game. It isnt impossible for players to move there, just quite difficult in my opinion. That role in the modern game is probably 60% playmaking and 40% play disrupting. Even the disrupting is less about getting your foot and more about blocking passing lanes to a CF. On Triantis I liked he got his loan. I quite liked bits of what I saw in him, but the level of football he has come from is way off where we are. A lot of learning about the pace at which you need to play and decision making I would imagine. Scotland is a good place to learn and develop those things.
I'm interested to see how he would do there in a game where Hibs are expected to win as last night he was essentially just screening the back 4 and not really getting on the ball. As you say, the 6's these days are more offensive players than ever before.
A couple of my mates were at the game and they were impressed with him in that role. Said he looked very natural in it, havent seen his highlights myself so cant comment but they are usually very hard to please
This should make everyone's day! @GrahamFalk Believe there's more injury problems for #SAFC this weekend in defence on top of Ballard's knock at the weekend and O'Nien's suspension. When it rains... please log in to view this image #SAFC Apparently Seelt is out as well for Saturday
