A possession based manager who likes to play out from the back ?

    Sounds like Ismael !

And a lot of fans wanted Val gone for that very reason so not sure such an appointment would go down well.

Mind you think most particularly young managers do set up their teams like that.

It may go down well as he's 'young and British', but only for while until he's found out - which he will be without a few new players to suit his style - which was VI's problem.

To be honest, I'm not sure there's any truth in this rumour - The 72 were touting Parker a month or so back as well, maybe they've just resurrected the rumour. The source they mention in the article - the Mirror - also seems to think that Warnock would be a good fit. God forbid - and I can't imagine any Watford fan would agree with that!!

Smells like clickbait but then some take it as gospel .

You are right though- I mean as said he loved the old possession stats as a player and manger .

"FLW looks at four names Watford must consider as their successor to the Frenchman."

Who the hell do they think they are to say that? Again, that's just a rehash of previous rumours.

Personally, I think there are some really good young(ish) managers worth looking at in Scottish football. Ian Murray of Raith Rovers has his team playing attractive football with limited resources - and, as a bonus for Watford fans, his team plays two up front. But having said that, I'd be happy to see if TC can prove himself.

I used to go and visit an engineer, supposedly on business, but in reality to spend an hour talking all things Watford. I remember the day after Elton appointed GT, just how disappointed he was, believing that the person he thought would revive the fortunes of the club, had gone for the cheap option. Elton wanted the best young manager in the country, and sought advice before making sure he got his man.
I am not sure where Gino would go for advice, or even if he thinks it is needed. The real difference between those days and now, is that once appointed, GT was allowed to do things his way, and not have the owner dictating what he should do next.
I would like to see a young manager given a chance, possibly Tom. He could certainly call on some advice if he needed it.

So basically any new manager will need to keep owners, players and fans all onside at the same time.

Good luck to him as that seems tricky to do with us!

I doubt you can please everyone at once unless your Klopp, Pep or Arteta and manage a top club.

Hopefully Cleverley will get a result Saturday otherwise with the games coming up after the International break he might not last long.

Wil he actually change much though?

I guess Deeney rejected the role then..?

    ;)

Good coaching experience maybe but some might say just with the ladies.

And probably easier to move back into previous roles when the next manager comes in .

Feel like a short term move .

Maybe even just till Saturday if we lose and they look for a permanent manager ?

I think that the reality is that it will be down to the players. We've seen them do all of that on more than one occasion this season, so we know that they can do it - but for whatever reason they have simply done it far too rarely. Lord knows, they've seen other teams do it against them often enough -a bog standard Bristol City side being a prime example - so why they haven't responded in a similar manner more often is anyone's guess. I can only assume that they were playing to the bible according to VI - so perhaps it's a good thing that he's gone.
