where do I need to drive him to? no probeln 120mil for a smart footballer but not a very quick one? job done. real have no more interest in macallister than they would do in ferandez at Chelsea. their midfield is stacked to over flowing.
The return of Michael Edwards to lead the restructure of Liverpool is anticipated to be confirmed next week, with Richard Hughes joining as sporting director. Sky Sports News understands Edwards will be given a prominent position within Fenway Sports Group, which would see him lead football operations at the Premier League side among other external tasks.
Interesting one that. Hughes apparently very highly regarded at Bournemouth. Edwards obviously massively highly regarded by fsg and giving him a promotion on previous role to oversee all football things seems like a solid choice. Whatever happened before with him leaving / klopp/pep L getting more say seem to have more legs with him coming back now Klopp has gone. Makes sense that we’d go back to a shared set up with many heads making joint decisions rather than letting new manager come in with full responsibility. Should hopefully ease the burden but just need to ensure they’re on the same page.
Just begs the question of why he left before? Think it suggests there was an issue between him and Klopp
Like Bisc says, it suggests that he felt his role was diminished because of the dominance of Klopp and Pep. If he does come back, it would also reinforce the idea that the new manager is already lined up and that Edwards is happy that he can work with him.
if you believe the man himself and the fact he turned down several other jobs then the simple answer is he just didn't want to be a technical director. he's turned down being the same thing again.
He also said in an interview he had been there 10 years and that was the plan really - so maybe just like klopp he needed a break. The fact he hasn’t gone and found another role suggests maybe wasn’t necessary the club either
exactly. there's no point making up reasons when we never heard any of them from either source. BTW Julian Ward hasn't turned up anywhere either. Edwards clearly wants to apply his thinking to baseball and ice hockey and the further over there he goes the better
I'd put it the other way. I'd almost assume fsg have not picked a manager and want him to do it. it's make little sense to go begging edwards to come back and give him any job he wants when they have already picked who is who.
I'm only guessing, but I said from day one that because so many were leaving at once I thought that might mean a new regime was already in the pipeline.
the assumption I have is none of these folks are going to stick in role. linders has a fantasy that someone is going to give him a big job. maths seems to think he can be a coach in Portugal. our mate Peter is a klopp man and always was. our fitness guru was poached of bayern as was our dietitian. there's no reason to stay or not stay but they all want to go. in the end promotion from with was never on the cards as we simply don't see an arteta behind a guardiola here. we see a guy who has had a go before, failed and then came back but has been put in front of the media for cup games and come across as very abrupt and loud. I honestly think fsg know that the manager needs to be a major major player snad our coaches cannot be that. thats my impression of things as klopp has intimated that they want to be managers in their own right. if fsg are attempting to get the structures right then that's a good start. I have always said (4 or 5 years now) that when klopp goes all bets are off. where we are now is a nice squad but not some that I think would necessarily challenge without klopp as the real world's age. if you get the appointment wrong it can all fall apart in a heartbeat. we've some absolutely fabulous opportunities from now til May and for next year with youth development but only sound structure and good decision making can sustain it. starting at the "top" is the way to go but we can't afford to appoint an ego to thinks he picks the players like a purslow. hopefully they will get it fairly right.
I’m more inclined to agree with Mito (that feels weird and wrong) but seems like want to get the top sorted to then allow them to have a say in getting the manager in. But could be right, don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. Might be they have a soft yes from proffered target
Always a very dangerous player and a speedy tricky winger however maybe doesn’t score enough and seems to be injured a lot.
injured a lot is the watch word. we don't need any more of that. in thr end how can anybody be interested in anyone without the jobs being filled? more of an agents wet dream than a real story.
Yeah with Thiago leaving in the summer we will need someone to fill the Keita, Ox Thiago hole, need to keep our medical team busy.
