Certainly if you were going by MOTM posts on this forum Tufan would win, though to be fair I think we could have prime Messi in our team and he still wouldn't get as many MOTM votes as Tufan does.
Tufan always had the technical ability, and now he's acquired an engine too. If he can put the 2 together in his 3rd full English season then we could have a serious player on our hands. Could easily match Oscar's tally this season. So he ain't been poor at all.
The complaints from ex-players and their parents about Sellars concerns me less than what his colleagues in the same academy think of him.
V much inclined to agree, hadn't been impressed with any of his cameo's this season, v lightweight and relatively slow. I did think a step down in league would help home out tho
This season, key passes per 90 - Carvalho 2.1 (more than any other City player), Tufan 0.9 (9th best).
I mentioned it last season before McAuley Snelgrove was released (before it was announced and he was at Spennymoor at the time), but Sellars isn't well liked by the youth players. If anybody on here knows Olly Green, ask him. The whole ER Senior Cup debacle against Hedon or Hornsea or whoever it was against didn't do him any favours either. Last season he used a lot of players out of position, this season doesn't seem to be going much better. I think Tan needs to take a serious look at it because if we're serious about being a top flight club, one of the most important things is our academy. Richard Naylor has done a fantastic job as head of youth development, just seems a shame that the manager of the youth team is a ballbag. In other news, I wonder if we'll see more youngsters go to York City, David Stockdale is the head of recruitment there (and back up keeper).
It seems a terrible shame that, when all other areas of the club are doing well, we have problems with the academy. Hope it gets sorted soon.
Last season they made the national playoff final to be fair. It's this season that the results have gone off a cliff.
Yep, and most of them were released, either by choice or were not deemed good enough. They've put a lot of faith in the current crop, but they're very young and lack experience of men's football. Last season was more down to off field problems, rather than on them, this season I think it's the formation. They play the same way as the first team do, but obviously they're nowhere near good enough to do so.
Gateshead play the way our first team do. They find a way to do it at that level. If they can't, then surely there'll be other opportunities for the better players who don't fit, likes of Donaldson, Townsend for example. Isn't it just natural churn?
I get the same info that Sellars is not liked, I agree this needs to be sorted as the previous 2 leaders Pennock and Beale did an excellent job and were well liked.
Youth teams should play the same way as the senior team imo, it’s all about making the step up as seamless as possible
Goes without saying, I mentioned the other 2 as they did it for quite a long period whereas Daw's was relatively shorter term.
