Good Morning. It's Monday 11th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Destiny in our own hands now Leeds moved one step closer to the top flight after seeing off a battling Sheffield Wednesday side at Hillsborough on Friday evening. There was little to choose between the two sides in the opening half. As in recent performances, Leeds unsurprisingly looked a little leggy; but we're at the business end of the season now, and the finishing line is in full view. With just nine games left, it doesn't matter how you get over the line, as long as you do. Patrick Bamford upset the buoyant home support by putting the Whites ahead on the stroke of half time after an exquisite cross to the back post by Junior Firpo. Up until that point, both sides had chances to go ahead. Meslier had to be at his best to deny Musaba from point blank range early on following a corner, whilst at the other end, Beadle had to come charging out to the edge of his area to thwart Georginio Rutter one on one. The Frenchman picked up the rebound, but his effort was cleared off the line. As time wore on, the visitors started to ask more questions of the Wendies defence, and it wasn't long until they doubled their lead. Rutter sliced Sheffield Wednesday's defence wide open , releasing Gnonto wide right of the penalty area. The young Italian took a touch, before drilling the ball diagonally, past the despairing dive of Beadle. Even then Danny Rohl's side continued to ask questions of the Leeds defence. They must have thought they pulled one back when Meslier spilled Musabi's effort straight to the feet of Bannan, but Ampadu was on hand to clear the ball off the line. please log in to view this image Form guide doesn't lie Leeds form since the start of the year has been nothing short of sublime, and with just nine games left, destiny is well and truly in their own hands. It's not until you look at the form guide over the last twelve games, that you see the magnitude of what Leeds have achieved. 34 points out of a possible 36 points and just three goals conceded. The feat is even more impressive when you consider Leeds have achieved this without Captain Pascal Struijk, who has been out of action since Boxing Day. Leeds have nine days to regroup, recover and restore their energy levels, before welcoming Millwall to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon. McKenna not thinking about a promotion race Following their 2-1 loss to Cardiff City, Ipswich Manager Kieran McKenna has insisted that he is not thinking about a promotion race (of course he isn't). The former Northern Ireland International, turned magician for what he has achieved at Portman Road will focus his attention on Ipswich's final nine games one by one. “Who knows? We’re not thinking about a promotion race, to be honest. Just thinking about ourselves, our journey, the next game, do as well as we can. Bits of the performance we could have improved. “It was a strong second half. Whether we won today, drew today or unfortunately lost today, it wouldn’t change anything that we focus on or work on next week" please log in to view this image
Does anyone believe McKenna when he says ‘we’re not thinking about a promotion race’. If I was his boss I’d be expecting him to think about it. yes I know… it’s all about the process, can’t get ahead of yourselves, focus on the next game. All that stuff is true - but really… not thinking about it Kieran?
Morning everyone the form improved without Struijk so it's best he does not play again. I am not a big fan of his and think he is too soft to make an impact. Ampadu and rodon i hope will see us home. I said a few weeks back we could win this league and we may yet do so.
Morning all Leeds fans. I think he's probably trying to make it look like it's mind games but I suspect it's really him saying to his bosses "even if we don't get promoted we've over achieved this season". Which is true to be fair.
Morning all At least four teams are thinking of the autos and several more the play offs. Before WBA latest win, my Baggies mate said nobody will be wanting to face them in the play-offs as they’re playing brilliant football. Ipswich fear the playoffs as Norwich are on a charge, Southampton have quality so a couple of wins and they’re back on track, I think top 2 is vital. I also feel it’s all or nothing for Ipswich, they have a great chance this season, next will be a different kettle of fish for them. Leicester are worried about FFP we are possibly concerned who might leave if we don’t go up, we also have the loan rats. Autos also allow better planning for the following season, with the loans we have a lot of work to get through
Morning everyone, a very good weekend for us, for once it all worked out for us instead against us for once. We are actually two points better off than Dipswitch with our goal difference far superior than there’s, Festa will be playing 3 games a week from now upto last game of season, can’t see them keeping up with the pace. One team that seems to be dangerous is Hull City, watched them play Festa and need to be given a lot of respect, could be dark horses to make play offs and who knows.
Good aftenoon from a we will wait and see very cold Bardsey Ifeeel thta the result at Sheff could be thge defining point to our season lets look upwards now to promotrion! I think that newshThat Warnock has left Aberdeen is a very strange one indeed,The only conclussionI have come up with is that ihe has been offered a very lucrative job in England Sheff U perhaps in the words of Lord Asquith we will wait and see
Good day all. Promotion looking a real prospect after that weekend. Was wondering had we been relegated in the season Rapha did his famous knee crawl celebration would we be in a better state now. Probably not as we probably wouldn’t have Farke steering the ship
