Should have been a free kick to Sunderland. He just didn't spot it fortunately for us. Hence why he went over to talk to the AR.
Can't give what he can't see, I'll take it, we are still in deficit in the bad decision department, if things are to equal up over a season!
^This ^This ^This Although I don’t think Baz is any worse, it’s just when you’re a keeper you’re playing with higher stakes AND keeper/sweeper is such a key role in this way of playing as they instigate so much We need a keeper who can stop like Niemi and pass like MLT
Although most of his mistakes wouldn’t have been VARable and any that where would have caused delays and come up with some nonsense results I much prefer imperfect refs to atrocious VAR VAR has enabled me to appreciate what we had previously
Whilst I don't agree with some of his team selections recently, mainly playing players in not their best positions, they clearly love playing for him and the team spirit is the best it has been for ages. His man management is first class and the football has been the most enjoyable since Koeman left and we don't know how it would be under another manager, so i'll give him credit for that.
I have to disagree with the Koeman bit. Ralph gave us plenty of exciting football before things went sour.
Agree - he’s brought a sense of togetherness back to the club. I really like him as a bloke, he always speaks a lot of sense, he’s clearly a good coach as he’s changed the style of the club around completely. Games are enjoyable as there are so many goals. Definitely many, many positives.
yeah but would the togetherness have come if we didn’t have the talent in the squad to be winning games in spite of his tactics Or would any other manager we hired have got the togetherness because we were winning games which is what always breeds this “great feeling around the club” people like to say
I still think the biggest mistakes we are making are nothing to do with the manager. They are in player recruitment. We desperately needed a quality goal scorer this summer and signed one who is totally broken. We desperately needed to toughen up the midfield - and we are still one strong DM short. We signed a left back who is not a great defender. We have signed lots of wingers- but that is the biggest strength area of our youth teams and we have totally stifled that transition from youth to first team. My only criticisms of RM are that he doesn’t play the players in their best positions at times and doesn’t trust youth either. But you can’t criticise him for having a football ideology. It is nice to have an identity again!
I've watched that penalty dozens of times and still can't see a double hit. Is there a clip somewhere that's shows it more clearly?
I’ve not seen one! He did well to score it, what with slipping up and with a double hit! I assume it did happen as you don’t see opposition players complain like that for penalties normally. But also not surprised the ref missed it given even with replays and multiple angles it’s still not obvious!
RM’s substitutions generally improve us and have won a few games. This suggests to me that he’s tactically astute.
Forgot to mention, very odd (unless I missed it) that the club did nothing to honour the passing of Chris Nicholl at the game yesterday.
Much prefer it to passing it to a cb who passes it back. At least this way, if we make a mistake then they don't have a 1on1 shot at goal. We also needed a plan b which I guess this is. The opposition often have 4 people outside our box ready to press our cbs for the short pass which this move bypasses. Agreed I wouldn't want it every go but it forces the opposition to with the cb press or double mark Che. Would certainly be better if we had someone who could control it a bit better them Che who tries overcomplicate a simple hold and pass on.
He looks great in transition from defence to attack which we lack without Stu but he also gives it away a lot for a holding midfielder. I always groan when he comes on then am instantly proven wrong when he scores
