Sorry , don’t agree it was a stinker etc of a race . Im disregarding 1st place . there is good racing , but we just have to hope the cameras catch it .
there was a lot of weaving thats for sure. I'm not sure I'd call that a good race. the safety car ruined it. its too easy 1 stop.
****test race of the decade being a title it takes over from last week's race and will hold for 15 days before the Australian Grand Prix is somehow even more boring
Was there really? Highlight might have been Kmag wrecking balling it here and there or Piastri trying to get around Hamilton. There was a couple of moments, but really nothing to write home about at all.
the Melbourne track is high downforce and too narrow for thrse generation of cars. it's going to be awful.
I’ll be honest, I can’t stand Night races, they add nothing to the spectacle. Singapore is only interesting because it’s Singapore. Bahrain, Doha, Saudi are dreadful spectacles.
it's all about fireworks and parties after. it's about who's got the money to put on a show for the 30 seconds after the chequered flag. its a real shame nobody was watching when they went off as wveryone switched off after 10 laps same for the sp called Pro boxing thing last night. sky were hard selling yesterday. I'd say nobody bothered to watch. .
I had decided not to watch but did just to see how Bearman did. Doubt I will waste time on Aus, talking of which Danny seems to have lost the way.
I was going to say earlier am I alone in thinking this will probably be the Honey Bears last year in F1 ?
if Australia is 6am on a Sunday morning then f1 can do one. knowing the result ahead of time based on quali makes it not worth watching. another 1/2 for red bull is likely. why? 1 stop race with low tyre deg. high downforce and high agility needed. who's got both with least drag? yup.
I still think he could ignite in the right car. He was very good at Red Bull and Renault with strong front end cars. Despite all the hype about this Visa RB team because of their shared parts with Red Bull, they made it very clear in the winter that they had made decisions in design that will only bear fruit with development later in the year. Let’s see how they go when they improve what is a very average car. He is in a close fight with Tsunoda after two races, let’s see it shake out. Personally I’d hate to think of Ricc leaving whilst the likes of Stroll and Sargent are milling around like a couple of lost Uber drivers. I could really get behind a Danny Ricc and Williams project as they try to fight their way back. Given Albon is wanted, they might need a flagship driver so why not him? Aston may also need to have a think, should Alonso ever decide to retire or move on.
Oh don’t get me wrong . I would love it if he got his second wind etc. Completely agree about Stroll ,he’s not bad but has had more than enough time to really prove himself ( also the fact I can’t stand him ) we will see . Though the thought of him in a Williams and becoming WDC 2025 , pleases me very very much
“Worst race ever” calls are way off, but the best stuff was even further back than usual today. Eventually the director puzzled that out and we went quite a few laps at a time without seeing a RedBull and did get to follow the narrative of the race. Max dropped a point, so already no chance he does a perfect season! Perez was efficient in getting back to the rear gunner position. After two races, early signs are his head seems to be where it needs to be to save his seat. 10s penalties for cutting the track and gaining an advantage are an improvement, as we saw places getting handed back more. Unsafe release needs the same upgrade IMO Piastri had the kind of race that Perez is often criticised for where he was stuck behind a slower car for too long. As is often the case with Perez, it didn’t ultimately make any difference to the end result. Haas actually managed some team work and executed it effectively! Must be the first time for about 5 years, so good to see it rewarded with a point. Bearman did well on debut. His reading of the race and pacing through it in particular stood out. Seeing Bearman’s performance - and thinking about Lawson’s last year - makes you wonder whether we really need some of these old men, who’ve had their time, to make way for some younger blood - instead of hanging around being solid (at best).
