He did a good job, to be fair, though he looks like an accident waiting to happen tomorrow. Of all the circuits to be drafted in like that. Was 0.036 seconds away from knocking Hamilton out in Q2.
Fury clearly underestimated Ngannou and didn’t prepare properly. Joshua saw that Ngannou wasn’t a complete joke so actually prepared for it and destroyed someone who isn’t a professional boxer. Big shock. Still think the AJ Fury fight gets made at some point, and think Fury will win pretty comfortably on points
Not so sure. AJ in this vintage is a very different prospect to the PC Plod version we saw before Ben Davidson got hold of him.
This. While Fury almost certainly didn't prepare as much as he should have done, AJ was still very sharp last night. He would give both Fury and Usyk a proper fight now and could easily beat both. A lot of it is about mentality. He needs to go out into the ring each time believing he will knock his opponent out. He has that now.
Hmm I think people are getting carried away with Joshua personally. While he's definitely seems to have got his confidence and spitefulness back it remains to be seen whether that'll still hold against an elite fighter. Fury still beats him comfortably for me.
I got back in time for the 2nd half and wow, what a game! That was so good to watch from both sides. But England attacked with ball in hand and what a joy to watch!
What a breathless finish, and brilliant execution by Marcus Smith. Ben Earl is just superb, unbelievable work rate.
So England put in a shift for the first time since beating New Zealand in the World Cup in 2019! Hard luck, Ireland - just go and beat Scotland to at least win the title!
You need to do a lot more than "put in a shift" to beat this Ireland side. From what I saw England were the better side for a lot of it. They didn't kick for territory which was joyous to see. Both sides went for it and I think the better team won on the day. Brilliant test match.
