this looks like a good one for ferrari and mclaren but only in context of racing for 3rd

Mercedes couldn't cool thier car in the coldest Bahrain ever.

this will be hot as hell but the tyres won't be a factor.

we might even be treated to verstappen having to pass someone in the race.

    who knows.....

Gone for Leclerc, I'm choosing optimistic hope over reason and logic.

    podium
    2xRBR + Leclerc.

Apologies for the moaning, but FP1 coverage on Sky.

My word, atrocious doesn’t even cover it.

For some reason they think it’s acceptable to have Rach Brookes just chatting absolute nonsense over the action- there’s no commentary, it’s just like listening to a couple of casuals talk bollocks whilst you try to enjoy the action.

And then they’ve just cut to an ad break just before we see the end of Perez’s flying lap.

I know FP2 is the more representative session, but surely we can to better than this lot?

Pinkham and Brooks are just TV presenters, get them out of the comm box ffs ‍♂️ Constantly lowering the standard of FP1 coverage.

Stop the ad breaks also- you’ve got all day to run ads, Sky.

    Anyway- moan over.

    Max fastest - yay.

    so some interesting first items:

    2023 Jeddah FP1

    Verstappen 1:29.617
    Perez 1:30.1
    Alonso 1:30.315

    2024: Jeddah FP1
    Verstappen 1:29.6 59 - SLOWER marginally.
    Alonso 1:29.845 - 0.5s faster
    Perez 1:29.868

now OBVIOUSLY this is all rubbish but it is interesting.

    2023 rest of results
    FP2 Max Verstappen 1:29.603
    FP3 Max Verstappen 1:28.485
    Q Sergio Perez 1:29.244 1:28.635 1:28.265 (verstappen out in Q2 with power loss Q 1:28.761)
    race: Max Verstappen 1:31.906

If we look to bahrain Verstappen was newer quickest in practice. he had certain issues. the fastest practice time was 1:30.374 in Q2 being sainz and verstappen and le clerc managed 1:29.1 odd. so thats a full 1.2 seconds fast ther there.

absolutely identical to 2023 jeddah funnily enough.

We could be looking hear at red bull going no faster than before but others cathcing up.

But on race day? Red bull can wipe everyone out.

If i were redbull i'd start targetting set weekednw ehre its easy to pas and get extra components taken cos this is going to close up eventually.

Again IMo red bull don't have thier inteneded front wing and nose on this car and have more side pod updates coming. This could blow the thing apart

I do expect to see people close in quali at least.

    Going:
    Max
    Sainz
    Russell

So clearly Sainz and Russell collide in turn one.

Great to see Alonso in P1- unfortunately I think the engine mode was up for Aston for some Aramco marketing reasons. But you never know-we will see tomorrow!

Long run was not good news- Max comfortably ahead of the field again.

1:28.827. What does that tell us?

Not much. Same engines, long straights and fake corners here means it's as you were form last year

It seems verstappen didn't have the power turned up.

on long runs the pace form both perez and verstappen was fastest on mediums and most consistent.

Its ismply a case of confirm this now in Quali.

if the engine is turned up, if red bull are bothered to then they sail away with it.

OR can anyone like ferrari turn it on and make it a 5 lap hope session tomorrow?

He's okay. Not 'special', but a good driver. Bit like...Albon, or someone like that. Will toddle around near the back this weekend, I suspect.

    I agree .

Initially I was super chuffed for him .

Now it’s sunk in , I’m thinking this could be a disaster .

I just hope nothing bad happens and if he has a mare , I hope it doesn’t affect his confidence .
