please log in to view this image Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds Utd Friday 8th March@20:00 | Hillsborough Sky Sports will be in attendance on Friday evening when Leeds visit Hillsborough, hoping to reclaim second spot from the Tractor boys. The Wendies are one of the divisions most in form sides, having won all four of the previous games. A win against their Yorkshire adversaries could lift Danny Rohl's side from 23rd to 16th, such is the congestion around the drop zone. The two sides fought out a goalless draw at Elland Road, during the reverse fixture in early September (Leeds fifth game of the season) when Leeds were still finding their feet. Anything less than three points could seriously effect their automatic promotion hopes. Daniel Farke has a big decision to make in midfield. Glen Kamara has been poor in recent games, and with Connor Roberts settling in well at right back, the gaffer could drop Kamara in favour of soon to be 18yo Archie Gray. please log in to view this image Roberts offers a fresh pair of legs, which Farke would be stupid not to utilise, especially after their leggy performance midweek against Stoke. Dropping him from right back in favour of Gray would not make sense, especially as the Welshman is stronger in advanced wide areas. It is unlikely that Sam Byram will be asked to play two matches in the space of 72 hours, so expect to see Junior Firpo reinstated at right back. Dan James was the pick out of the Leeds front men on Tuesday night. His wonder strike should ensure he keeps his place in the starting line up, ahead of Wilfred Gnonto. Jaidon Anthony has been given time off following his mother's funeral on Tuesday and will not travel with the team to Hillsborough. Jamie Shackleton (concussion), Stuart Dallas (leg) and Pascal Struijk (groin) also miss the trip.
Mate, you could be onto something. Maybe Firpo is a right back after all. Makes the criticism of him as a left back look totally out of order to be honest
I don't think either Byram or Firpo will be risked for the full 90 mins, in an attempt to nurse them through the rest of the season. Haven't seen anyone question the Struijk injury situation yet. He was lauded for coming back so quickly after his surgery, but he only lasted a couple of games before his injury flared up again. That was well before Xmas. Still no sign of a return. Raises a lot of questions for me about the medical team .....
Good point WJ and have been thinking something similar. Difficult to see Struijk playing a significant role now during the last 10 games as he'll be some way off match fitness you would have thought.
I'm not looking forward to this game at all. They've hit a real bit of form so will be a very tough prospect anyway. Add in that it is at Hillsborough against us will give them an extra yard. We looked very leggy against Stoke and gave them enough chances to take something from the game. Luckily their finishing was poor and Mes had a good game. Our defence didn't look as solid as it has done. In fact even Udders caused us problems. Something isn't right with us because, not only do we seem more suspect at the back, our forwards want that extra touch again.
We will win this and win it comfortably. Yorkshire derby or not they are hopeless if we turn up and play like we have we will be far to strong for them.
Not really mate 10 wins from 11 im just confident in our ability. Best defence in the league in form whats not to be confident about. Bring it on
Will miss first ten minutes myself as grandsons training finishes at eight. Few nice cans of Guinness draught in the bar fridge since last weekend so all that's needed is a last minute winner to make the night
Due to my success in visiting the pub for the Leicester game i shall go again tonight. Same four pints and crisps and scratchings and another win.
