Brilliant win tonight and fully deserved despite a good few hairy moments. Played with energy and drive the first half before fading in the second but the lads hung in there and got us over the line
That was in the first half where he came for a ball he couldn't get to, ended up in no man's land and Stoke nearly scored. He had another brain fart. Last 10 minutes he was excellent. A completely different phase of the game.
The stoke keeper made some good saves in the first half. Honestly, Mes had some work to do second half but not sure which ones he made that you wouldn’t expect any average keeper to make. A decent one low to his right I remember? He did his job no more… and still managed to fck up a few crosses. ‘winning us in the game’ in the same way a chair between the sticks would have done
Part of being a good keeper is making saves look easy due to positioning and anticipation. Meslier was excellent last night in all facets of the game.
Ipswich were 3 2 up at 90 minutes so any added on time didnt do them any favours, so whats the problem ?
The point is the referee had already indicated to the 4th Official that eight minutes should be added. Had he known you were going to score before the board went up he could have just made it three
thanks for the coaching tips If last night was excellent, what would mediocre on crosses look like? set the bar any lower and you’ll need a shovel
Yes all very relieved he didn’t let any howlers in.. and probably delighted he fell on the ball he dropped in injury time… and that it didn’t land at the feet of an attacker. Happy for you to think otherwise as always
Sorry but was he excellent when he came to collect on the first half and flapped and was nowhere near the ball.
The Stoke keeper kept them in the game first half, 3 very good saves but got very lucky with a brain fart before those, when he gave away a penalty that he got away with.
Meslier's harshest critic, which is the bloke that sits behind me was even willing to admit that Meslier was bloody good last night. Plus the referee gave a foul against Meslier for the incident you described, which was brave and excellent goalkeeping. Fans have a go because he punches a lot but when he takes the pressure off by catching or easily gathering the second ball he takes stick as well.
I've deducted him 0.2 marks for not being absolutely perfect. So only 9.8 out of 10 for Meslier last night
