Rotherham (complete waste of time) should be kicked out of the league and results voided. Sorry about that Leicester, the only one of the top 4 to get 6/6 against them
The real shame for me is, Saturday turned out to be a golden opportunity to put Leicester under severe pressure. A win would have put us within 3 points with a very similar goal difference. Our games this week are potential banana skins because, the reality is, both sides are in the bottom 3. I believe Leicester travel to Sunderland and Hull this week? I know which fixtures I would rather have. Before the season started I predicted Ipswich would go really well and never subscribed to the view that a collapse was inevitable. Their record over the last 18 months, not just this season has been phenomenal. Southampton have all three to play & from here, I would say any two from the top four could grab the automatic promotion places, quite remarkable when everyone (me included) thought three teams were battling for one place.
Saturday was a blow but it had to come, Stoke should be 3 points but not sure about Wednesday, another quick turnaround, I can see why Farke isn't impressed with our Sky schedule, hardly time to prepare for the next game how the times and days the games are played. 11 games definitely more twists and turns to come, I have Ipswich down for the autos now, good run of fixtures for them, can only see the Soton and Norwich games where they drop points but there are still 8 teams with it all to play for for those final 2 relegation places and a few of them will dig in and find wins as QPR did Saturday, let's hope its when they play the other 3 it happens
It is but they've not been playing the same schedule as us, mostly Saturday 3pm,s and a few less midweek games over the last month. Tbh, if it was Saturday 3pm game, I'd still not be confident, they're in good form and our record there is pretty shocking over the years. We've beat them 4 times in the last 15 meetings.
Actually looking at Ipswich's fixtures, last 2 aways, Coventry and Hull both should be going for the play offs, they could drop points there too.
Southampton have posted pre tax losses of £70.5M for 2022/23 (£93.5M after tax and interest charges). Explains why they sold Ward Prouse, Livramento & Lavia in the summer to try and balance the books for this current financial year but surely doesn't leave them much wriggle room if they fail to get promoted this season.
It is getting to a point that after a manager the most important person in a football club is a financial manager.
Or a Sporting Director who puts loan exit clauses plus 50% mandatory wage reduction clauses in all the players contracts should the club suffer relegation. All hail Victor Orta
My ex always did ask me, how come my account is joint and yours is only for you? Erm… Im self employed so it has to be like that, was my answer.
Was that not reduced because we were worth only a fraction as a championship club compare to Pl or am I conflustered here
