No, they possibly won't but I think that has to be part of the process. Develop players, sell one or two, bring more in. The quality of the potential will, of course, have to increase with each round.
That's where it starts getting difficult as the wages increase as you go up the levels, plus the pool is a lot smaller
Exactly. And it gets to that tipping point whereby you chase the money you've 'invested' by spending more ... ... Hull have done that and will be lucky to scrape 6th, if they do I wouldn't back them to win the play-offs. So next season they'll have a squad that failed and probably spend again, that can only last so long.
I have been wondering how we select our head coach and who is involved. Surely it isnt just Speakman? Cant imagine KLD plays a role does he? Stuart English? Murty? I would be really interested if anyone knows. I tend to think it is a panel of key members of the backroom team in most clubs. They need to understand coaching to appoint one. Maybe we have some external agents helping us? Got me thinking of the bootroom. About the best example I can think of re promoting from within. When Shankly went Paisley didnt fancy the job. He is on record as saying he only took it to keep the rest of the bootroom in a job as an outsider would bring his own staff. When he went ***an stepped up and he was supposedly very reluctant. Robinson wanted ***an to do a couple more years but he wouldnt. The conveyor belt had come to an end. Robinson put together a panel of 4 to select the next manager. This included Tom Saunders, a key but less high profile member of the bootroom. Tom was mostly known for his work with youth teams, but was a really trusted football man. ***an asked him to plot for Roma. Saunders played quite a role in Dalglish being picked. Rambling a bit now, but I keep reading on here that Dodds is a youth team coach, which isnt true. But just imagine if Liverpool hadnt valued their youth development coaches when it comes to integration with the first team. Murty is probably our man, hope we are using him.
Not quite sure where your going with that to be honest. My post was a reply about having to sell players to fund the next step up and how difficult it will be as the costs increase. That puts pressure on the recruitment team to find that player or players that can be sold to fund it whilst not letting the needs of the team drop. Mind you part of this could be immaterial as prices and wages should really start to fall as 25/26 draws closer and clubs will have to tighten their belts to suit the new rules
I was agreeing with you, I think everyone including the club would too. All I'm saying is that spending more and bringing in more experience doesn't automatically get you anywhere.
Just talking to my mate in the pub, I said I’d have scott Parker, he said I’d stop going if he got the job . Unreal, ha.
It's the Hull bit that has thrown me. Mind would help if I could concentrate and not be sorting out 2 sites tomorrow
I'm sick to death of this shiite tbh, 'if XYZ doesn't happen/happens I'll stop going' ... ... just don't go ffs, you probably do nothing but whinge when you do.
I don't like his personality but that's irrelevant, I don't want to marry him ... .... same goes with everyone else at the club. People are getting obsessed with personality and look where that got us with Boris Johnson. I want competence and professionalism over wisecracks and big promises.
Talking to a mate tonight who says we might be looking at Norgaard, Franks assistant at Brentford. Just another name to throw in.
Could be rubbish mate. He says it is a 2 plus 2 thing, which might equal anything. Idle chit chat, but an interesting name.
Most are interesting names to me. My knowledge is limited away from safc and I love a Google search on players or coaches
I like Scott Parker and would have him here. I said so earlier on this thread. Non starter according to Bob who knows him well as he never settled up here when at Newcastle. Baffles me why folk wouldnt want him on pedigree though. Two promotions from this division. Lap up Still but not Parker, very odd. On my little family whatsapp we are kind of hoping for some elder statesman like coach for 3 years to help the whole club mature a bit. Dare I say Rafa has been mentioned. Whilst I think it is barmy to think he woule come here, I would love somebody like him, but you can see a proportion of our fans being outraged. Would probably make Beale's appointment look like a royal visit by comparison. Just to be clear it wasnt me that mentioned Rafa. I threw Hassenhutl in but was told I was an idiot by my niece She wantes Villas-Boas
