It genuinely means nothing when you look at our recent academy graduates. Jacob was at Gateshead last season, and he looks comfortable in the Championship, KLP had a spell at Bradford Park Ave where he did nothing but played 21 times in the Championship the following year and Batty was at Halifax the year before he broke through. The reason no decent player has come through the LOI is because previously all the decent talents have been ransacked by PL clubs when they're in their early teens.
I understand that, but you also have to take into account individual player development. Last season, we loaned out 16 youth or reserve players. Cartwright went out twice to different clubs and played 1 game. Getting game time at Grimsby now. Robson went to Crawley and barely played, went to Darlington and is now at Gainsborough. Smith had a positive loan spell at Grimsby, now teetering on the edge of the first team and on loan at Cheltenham. Jarvis went to Scarborough and did okay. Jevon Mills went to Gateshead, did really well, then Solihull and did even better, won an award, is now on loan at Bohemians. Hope for him, has made his debut. Fisk went to Tadcaster, now permanent at Shelbourne. Josh Hinds went out on loan but barely played, was released and is now without a club. Snelgrove was doing well at Crusaders in NI before his appendix ruptured, went to Gainsborough and Spennymoor where he was dicked about, now fallen out of love with the game and is looking at leaving football, is currently playing at Ferriby. Voase went on loan to Barton Town and Beverley Town and is now at college in North Carolina. Oliver Green went to Marske, now captain of the U21s but not near the first team. Tom Nixon is on loan at Donny, having been on loan at Boston last season. Harry Lovick went to Marske, after being released join Gainsborough, before being released again and now plays for North Ferriby. Jim Simms went to Buxton, still here but nowhere near the first team. Chadwick went to Boston, did well after a great spell at Linfield, joined Stockport, was loaned to Gateshead and was then sold to York where he has yet to feature. Tim LT - went on loan to Stevenage, did great, doing really well at Donny. People on here want him nowhere near the first team and with Pandur coming in, not looking likely he will anytime soon (unless Ingram/Allsop goes). Jake Leake went to Scunthorpe, now doing okay at Tranmere but has had an injury which has kept him out for most of the season so far. Louie Chorlton went to Bradford Park Avenue, was released and now plays for Pontefract Collieries. Obviously loves the glamour. Special mention to Ahmed Salam, who is now playing for Manchester 62 in the Gibraltar Football League (their top flight) and has 7 goals and three assists in 15 appearances. Festus Arthur, who McCann described as "phenomenal" is now on loan at Southport from Halifax. Of those 17, 10 are still contracted to the club, but Nixon, Green and Simms are out of contract (assuming we don't take up options) in Summer. Of the seven remaining, you'd imagine out of Lo-Tutala, Cartwright and Robson, that Robson will probably be going. Given our transfer policy, I can't see past any of them staying beyond next season, you could maybe make a case for Nixon, Smith, Mills, TLT and Cartwright, the rest I just can't see making the step up to be first team players with what we're bringing into the club. Nixon having played at Doncaster and Cartwright at Grimsby might net us a few quid in profit if we sell them. My point is, that while in recent years we have had kids who *have* made the jump up from a low level to a high one, there are a hell of a lot that don't. That doesn't mean it can't ever happen, but if you're a betting man, would you bank on any of those lads being Championship regulars for Hull City in the coming years?
Andy Smith came on at 78 mins in Cheltenham 2-0 loss at Wycombe. Callum Jones not in the match day squad for Forest Green 1-1 draw with Wrexham.
Jarvis played 81 minutes in Shelbourne 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers. Bohemian's game against Dundalk was postponed because of snow. Taylor not in the match day squad for St Patrick's loss to Derry City 2-1.
Callum Jones didn't feature in Forest Green's squad for their 1-0 defeat to Grimsby. Harvey Cartwright played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet in the same game. (Bit of a City connection for the goal with ex Tiger Gavan Holohan setting up ex Tiger Harvey Rodgers). Harry Wood didn't come on, but was on the bench for Grimsby. Yuriel Celi was an unused sub in Universiario's 1-0 win over Sport Huancayo (lol at that name). Jake Leake is still injured at Tranmere. Timothee Lo-Tutala played 90 minutes as Doncaster Rovers lost 3-1 away at in form Walsall. Tom Nixon wasn't in the Doncaster squad. Ryan Woods played 60 minutes as Exeter lost 2-1 at Peterborough. Ryan Longman came on and played 18 minutes for Millwall as they beat Watford 1-0. Xavier Simons still isn't fit for Fleetwood. Harry Vaughan was on the bench for Bristol Rovers but didn't come on in their 0-1 away win at Leyton Orient. Andy Smith played 75 minutes for Cheltenham as they drew 0-0 with Burton Albion. Henry Sandat played the final two minutes for Southend as they drew 1-1 away at Oldham. Dogukan Sinik played 29 minutes as Hatayspor lost 0-2 to Fenerbahce. Owen Foster wasn't in Chorley FC's squad as they beat Rushall Olympic 2-1 at home. Also, not our player anymore but nice to see Billy Chadwick get two goals for York City, even if they did lose and are in the **** (AGAIN).
Could have stopped the Simons comment after the word ‘fit’. I mean, seriously, wtf is going on there?
He picked up a bad injury before Xmas and had to come back here to get treatment. He's only recently joined back up with Fleetwood.
Got a link that works now! https://www.sofascore.com/sport-huancayo-universitario-de-deportes/fWsVCn#tab:lineups
Because he didn't come on, so I took a wild guess. The fact that he's less popular to the coach than Andy Polo, who earlier this year was found liable for domestic abuse, negligence, battery and assault charges says quite a lot.
So I did. Well when you're trawling football scores at 2am to tell a bunch of people you don't know how some players nobody gives a **** about did at teams we don't support, the effort can tend to dip.
