It's good that he said that isn't it ? Most of us would agree We are a work in progress , certainly not the finished product
So we’re in 6th place and have just got a point away against one of the form teams in the league. With a team that is just going to get stronger and stronger at the right time of the season, with a nice 3 week break including a week in the sun to prepare for the run in. For the first time in our living history, we have a number of players capable of producing brilliant moments that can turn a game, which is exactly what is needed in those big games at the end of the season. I apologise, but there’s a lot of reasons to be positive.
A difficult game against a well drilled Preston side and we've done well to come away with a point. Philogene was fairly anonymous first half but that's easily explained given the lack of service offered up to him? Coyle had his hands full all game against a tricky winger who wanted and received plenty of ball but he played well against the lad. He's underrated at times but his heart and desire in playing for our Club is noteworthy, week in/week out... Our defence is working hard and seems to have come together of late and as a result we look far tighter and assured at the back.Sadly, the same can't be said for our attacking play,we've nothing up front in the box, which makes scoring goals extremely difficult!!(oh to have a fully fit Delap ready and available) Bringing Billy Sharp on ended up a huge waste of time and subsequently giving Tufan a couple of minutes to make an impact at the end was a bizarre decision, perhaps Rosenior in hindsight should've brought Tufan on much earlier? In terms of the gap between us and Preston...No harm done, but Norwich are beginning to look a bigger concern and we could do with all 3 points this Tuesday(on paper that looks highly likely, but this League isn't played on paper and it has a habit of throwing up strange results)... Tuesday has become another huge game!!
For me, an enjoyable game to watch, 2 teams giving it 100%. Don't underestimate this result, PNE and a very good side, they have beaten Ipswich and Coventry in the last month as well as Cardiff & Boro. Apart from Whiteman miss, we limited then to very few chances, and I always felt if one team would nick it, we would, Jaden nearly did, and a very good save from Woodman in the 2nd half. A lot of good performances, particularly defensively and in midfield, Greaves just gets better, Jones was also very good as well as Coyle and Giles. Stater and Morton had very good games, Seri not at his best, maybe his exploits in the ACN is catching up with his. PNE industry did keep the front 3 quiet, but we also kept their 3 at arm's length. On the question of the lack of goals, yes, we should be scoring more, but our striking options this season have been disrupted. Losing Delap has been telling, Connolly who when fit does score goals, but he has been servery hampered by injury, the Gunn incident none of his making. Bring in Ohio and Shape in January is never easy, Sharp hasn't really cut it yet, and Ohio obviously is not match fit, and Liam is trying to get him up to speed. Overall, to be in the position we are, with our striking options not being I am sure how Liam would like them, is credit to all for finding a way of getting results. I think this team will get better, and there are signs of this happening already, so let's not be too critical, as I would certainly have taken this position before a ball was kicked this season. Finally, I am getting a feeling that if it does turn out that if it is us and Norwich fighting it out, will that result in the first game of the season, whereby the snatched 2 points from us be telling! Let's hope justice prevails are some incident goes to our favour in the run in.
We don't 'unfortunately lack the most important ingredient'........He's injured. FFS, reading some of the stuff on here this morning you'd think we'd just been relegated.
I must have watched a different game because I have no idea why everyone's so down on the performance. I thought it was two in form teams going toe to toe. For a stretch of the second half we had them pinned back we just couldn't find the finishing touch.
Apart from that bit of the second half, the team was literally trying to get the ball to Allsop, the keeper! Maybe we should play him up front & then when we are getting the ball to Allsop, we might get a chance of scoring!
I reckon we will finish 6th and play Ipswich in the play offs. Hopefully by then it won’t be pissing it down every day and the pitches will be dry. On a dry quick pitch I fancy us against anyone in this league.
At least. Most teams have 11 games left to play. Each team has mostly 11 players on the pitch most of the time in those 11 games. There are 2 full teams on the pitch most of the time in those regulation 11 games they have left to play before season ends. At any point in any game any player is capable of making a match or point winning contribution for his team. Likewise, any player is capable of making a point losing/game losing error. Potential reasons to be both optimistic/positive and reasons to be pessimistic/wary. That's without having taken other factors into account that could impact the result of said games - subs used, manager/coach contributions, officials decisions. Somewhat akin to Lorenz's "The Butterfly Effect".
agree - sloppy performance littered with poor passes and our back line constantly putting Allsop under needless pressure - I find our goal kicks where three line up on the six yard line with us constantly bleating to the ref about someone having their toe in the area, quite frankly, embarrassing - then Greaves passes to Allsop and back again, then back and then panic hoof upfield - I have yet to see any other team **** about so much as the back as we do - needless pressure that gets us nowhere - we even manage to break up our own attacks and end up passing back to Allsop, all so needless - we didn't deserve to win yesterday, in fact I think we came for a point and did well to get one - it was a relief that Preston didn't nick it in the end because you could almost see it coming - we didn't need to play like that but we invited it to happen, and even worse we were sloppy with it - lets see what we can do against Birmingham and whether we can get our passing boots on otherwise it will be another pile of pish
I’m not sure what type of football Rosie really wants to play with the messing around at the back, but if it’s to be like Man City or Aston Villa, then he needs to actually watch those teams, because we are nowhere near anything like either of them. If we do make the playoffs, I don’t think we will, it’ll be because of other teams failing, not us dominating games & smashing teams for 6! If, somehow, we managed to win the playoffs, then we would be looking at the lowest points total in PL history, if we play like this!

Whilst I agree entirely HB I think the feeling was that they might get Delap back and at the time didnt know the full extent of the injury. But signing Sharp was a complete waste of a position and salary, as for Ohio, the lads needs to be given a chance I feel. Certainly, held have brought more to the table than Sharp has in his appearances.
We'd dropped lots of needless points and not score enough a long time before Delap was injured. and just for the record as much as I absolutely love the lad and hope that Acun uses all his persuasive powers to sign him, 7 goals 2 assists... compare to a Szmodics in the Championship alone in a team just above the relegation zone 19 goals and 3 assists...
'Didn't get to see the game yesterday Burnsnight... but listened to it on the old monogram.... sounded obvious from the first half we needed to add something different to the mix,... not sure the introduction of the 308 year old man of steel did anything, adding kid chaos at 60 or 70 minutes might have added the alchemy we needed...' Watched the highlights this morning looked better than I thought, can see why the ref didn't give the pen, but would have been furious if it was us. Good to see the Rosenior piece on the Beeb, congratulate taking risks and taking responsibility for his players, but the 2 'Harakiri' ones were obvious plane crashes... UTT (UnTil Tuesday)
Definitely a problem area, we are doing well but lack the presence of a proper centre forward since Delaps injury, I said at the time of all the January signings that for me Ohio was the most important signing because he was replacing Delap. At the moment it as not worked out that well though. When I’ve watched him for the very short periods he as played, he looks a good size, is quick but his hold up play was poor. They must be working on that but better get on with it with only 12 games to go.
