Now the dust has settled on last night what's the view on Connor Roberts as a loan signing ?

For me he's an upgrade on Ayling which makes us stronger as a squad and I'd have no qualms about him starting games in the Championship.

I’d prefer him at RB over Archie as it gives us more options using Archie off the bench and resting him a bit, it’s been a long season for him already

Kinda strange as he looks very good yet a poor Burnley outfit would let him go on loan. They must have a serious defence although their results so far wouldn’t suggest so

They have a big money loan from Rennes playing at RB, may be something in the loan they have to play him so many games.
Thought Roberts was fairly poor first half, some very wayward passing but definitely grew into the game, I'd give him some games now to see if he's one to sign for next season or send back.

Fair enough Gessa. He played a big part in the Leicester win as well and as someone pointed out Archie is too good to not play in midfield

I'd definitely be starting him the next few games at least.

Sign Roberts if we fail to get promotion.

If we go up, Roberts won't be good enough.

For this season? Play him and move Archie to 6 alongside Gruev.

Burnley are still a decent team and I'd expect them to bounce back next season as they'll be too good for the Championship.

Unless we're still in it of course <whistle>

Agreed but not sure I'd be changing a winning team at the moment.

Great back up to have though if needed <ok>

Sadly once again proving the point it’s a colossal gap. They’ve won three games all season. How bad is that. Imagine the enjoyment their fans are getting from that

They've obviously not read the script and need to sack their manager (without having a replacement lined up) and then get Big Sam in for the last few games.

    Jeez did that really happen.

Our lords and masters at the time believed we could attract any manager in the world, even had the fire lit with the white smoke. At least Burnley aren't that daft but end result will be the same

So what’s the choice? Being a mid range team, never going up or down in the championship playing the likes of Plymouth or being a mid ranged team never going up or down in the Premier League playing the likes of Arsenal? I know where I’d rather be <cheers>

Me too but we have a lot to do to get to being a mid range pl outfit. If it’s a choice between winning 30 games a season in championship or 3 in pl I know which I want

As we all know, it takes big bucks to be a mid range PL team, and those who aren't backed with cash get relegated. Those that are backed with cash, need a damn good manager or end up like lots of teams who remain 1 season wonders

There’s a few bucking that trend, Brighton, Brentford, Palace etc. Everton spent big but on poor quality and have been in the relegation battle every season since. You need to buy well and develop players well. Liverpool will spend but look at the quality of their academy players coming through.
