It's finally here, the first race of 2024. Have Merc been sandbagging, have Red Bull pulled out an even bigger lead, will Ferrari live up to testing.......So many questions might be answered. Fingers crossed for a fight at the front. 57 laps of the 5.412-kilometre Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir 29th February Practice 1 11:30 - 12:30 29th February Practice 2 15:00 - 16:00 1st March Practice 3 12:30 - 13:30 1st March Qualifying 16:00 - 17:00 2nd March Race 15:00 - 17:00 All times are UK times Poll closes before Quali.
We’re doing who will finish first at the first race, second at the second, third at the third, etc., right?
this i like. Its harder to predict and it can be in any order as well so you could actually do a competition for it.
I can easily change the poll to allow 3 votes each but I don't think we can do what order they will finish. I'm assuming that the poll will allow us to see who selected who. Maybe something like 3 points for picking 1st, 2 for second and 1 for third. Do we discount Max completely from the poll? What happens if 'Any Other wins'? Anyone have any better way to pick the 9 drivers in the poll? Any other suggestions/ideas welcome.
Don’t think we can discount Max , I mean he MIGHT win a couple of races . Do we really need to have points ? If we don’t have points , then surely if “ any other wins “ shouldn’t really matter ? is it possible in the. If any other wins. Section , the name will appear ? if not we can just put the name of the Driver in our post ?
Something I’m looking forward to this year, is the Ferrari intra team battle. Seeing how Leclerc goes and whether he can add some more consistency to his speed. If Ferrari can come up with a contending car in the next couple of years, you’d expect him to out qualify Hamilton by a ratio of at least 2:1, so his ability to win a WDC would then be dictated by his ability to exploit that in races. It’s going to be a lot easier to improve this year, without any pressure and against a team mate he has a psychological edge over. On the other side of the garage Sainz is fighting to be in something better than an Alpine or a 2026 project… RedBull/RB should also be interesting to watch from a team perspective and from the perspective of the second RedBull seat likely becoming available. There’s a few other contenders on the grid who are will have their eyes on that too and it will be interesting to see who, if anyone, emerges as the likely best choice. What other good stories/themes do people see for this year?
How Merc deal with a departing Hamilton. Knowing he's going to a competitor, how freely will information flow in his side of the garage?
Aye, more generally Russell could use a strong showing, if he wants to convince Merc they can afford to go for a young untested driver/number 2.
