Wages are going to become a major issue in short order. I'd hazard a guess that part of our success in attracting those loanees is that we're able to cover much more of their wages than an average Championship side might, but that'll get more difficult year on year. Fraser might be at a place in his career where (especially with only one year remaining) he's willing to take a 70% pay cut to play regularly, but our market advantage is going to dry up there...we're going to have to have an eye on the Championship financial regulations from this point forward.
Re: ABK. Is it out of the question to expect him to come back here for a season in the Champ? His fitness record is horrible, so who would want to pay his wages?
As a Championship team whose revenues will be dwindling year-on-year, we cannot afford to pay his wages. So he'll go back out on loan if no one will buy him.
If we do not go up, it will be a much weaker squad never season. However, I would have to say that I think we have exceeded my expectations for what I felt would be a really difficult season. I would never have anticipate that unbeaten run. Next season's Championship will be easier with the current three bottoms Prem teams likely to be relegated . Having everton in the division would take up one of the promotion places, I think. I think we will get a play off place with ease this season but am not confident that we will progress, especially if Hull are in the mix. This season has to be classed as a success given the base from where we started. I agree that next season will be tougher and it will be a struggle regardless of which league we are playing in. If we are in the Championship, playing Portsmouth will be interesting. I have a nasty suspicion about them and think they will be on a roll and maybe do successive promotions. They appear way too good for League One and will have no problem stepping up. I would not laugh at anyone who put them a candidates for a second promotion.
