Another three points in the bag. The late goal spoiled my perfect prediction to be able to leapfrog Bigal in the prediction table but no complaints from me. Great game to watch, we're still in with a shout of top two.
Tuenzebe excellent, I do prefer him at the back to Clarke or Wolfenden, who just doesn't fill me with confidence, especially when one on one!! Omari and Kiefer quality!!
Yes, Tuanzebe played his best game, and liked the way he came forward. Kiefer is a real workhorse and Omari bewitched!
One of the better all round performances today. Loads of great football, good value for the win. Burgess my man of the match today. Lots of great work to open up play for us.
Good response to the indifferent performance on Tuesday.Hutchinson MoM for me but Axel had a good steady game at RB. Still second on points and closing in on Leicester, who'd have believed it this time last year!?
Agree BigAl. Omari, during the game I said he was a class act. He’s actually a f...ing amazing player. How he has developed is a tribute to KM. He is strong, brave into tackles, chases like mad, and dazzles, out moves 1, 2 even 3 oppo defenders! KM has coached him to a potential prem player. His decision making and crossing has greatly improved. And his celebration antics entertain the crowd, what a character! I love watching him play. With Burnsy out for a while with a calf strain, he'll get a run now. Good timing for us as we push on for promotion!
Let's hope Burns isn't out for too long as he's equally looked in good form recently, I wouldn't want to be a LB knowing you're going to face both of those in a match. Also liked the game vs Millwall when Hutchinson and Burns player together
Couldn’t watch yesterday’s match, but sounds like a good performance and we looked great on the highlights. For me, Hutchinson has got to be starting more. I’d argue his best position is in the number ten role and I’d probably start him ahead of Chaplin, who hasn’t been bad by all means! I also think we’re a lot more lethal up front with Moore in the team. He’s an upgrade on Hirst. Hopefully we can make one or two of them permanent signings. Southampton have lost three of their last four. We’ve just got to keep winning games and hope Leicester or Leeds drop points. Automatic promotion, somehow, is still on for this brilliant squad and manager.
Thought Wolfy had his best game for a while yesterday - for me, no coincidence that it was Axel rather than Clarke next to him. We should have been out of sight in the 1st half but once again, the conditioning of the players shone through, no fluke in the number of late goals we score. Only negatives were the injuries with Burns the most worrying but Broadhead and Chaplin also being withdrawn. We’re going to need the full squad as the season reaches the end but whatever happens, what a season it’s been
So hard to pick between all those players in forward positions, they're all very good and all bring something different to the table, ironically I think it's the player with least talent who brings the most consistency to those positions and that's Burns, all the others despite their talents and contributions to games can go missing even if Burns has a bad game the fullback knows he's had a hard game. For me that's the biggest worry if Burns is out for a long time. Hutchinson certainly deserves a start but who does he come in for? Chaplin isn't always in games but he has moments of real quality, such an intelligent player, he reminds me of a slightly deeper lying version of Marcus Stewart in his movent and positional play. Moore deserves so much credit and I think its no doubt at all that our form dropped when we lost Hirst and has upped since Moore has come in. Having that focal point upfront is so important to the way we play, it's no coincidence that all the forward players behind Moore have started scoring again since he's come into the team as there's more space for them. I think its hard to compare Moore and Hirst in terms if their value to the team, I agree I think Moore is a better penalty box player, he's far better at attacking balls in the box (an area I think Hirst can work on) and probably slightly better with his back to goal but I'd say Hirst is more explosive and gives more of an option to go in behind and down the channels. Either way it is clear that a McKenna team somewhat ironically needs a target man for things to really click.
A good game to watch with over 29000 in Portman Road and not forgetting the round of applause in support of Mogga which both home and away support joined in. Town definitely the better side but i was starting to worry as the time ticked by, and then goals by Sarmiento and Hutch deservedly made the points safe, on top of that the worst team ive seen all season went to Southampton and won ! Which now gives us a 5 point cushion over Saints, just didnt see that coming. The injury situation is a worry but our subs are decent and should fit in the starting XI with no problem, this fantastic season has had its twists and turns but what a ride its been.
