Fair point and there would be more saying it I guess. I’d want to see the faces of those fans demanding he goes so we can get an exciting attack at all costs with 2 strikers etc type coach they want to see when we appoint another play it safe defensive guy ! Like a Hodgson or Wilder .
So many people want different things that whatever happens some won’t like it . There is a lot of finger ponying going on ! WO pages seem to just blame the manager maybe not helped by the constant negative attitude of their main reporter . Other forms of media have a more mixed opinion on is to blame . I don’t think a change of manager is going to make any difference with the same squad now .
Wasn't the head coach given an improved contract because he managed to get the players to turn up on time for training? maybe that is what is seen as success?
He was seen as installing discipline so maybe ! But now the players have probably kicked off as they do and taking 2 players off after 25 minutes would have not been a good look . Particularly as one is seen as a rare sellable asset . And another one is sat on the bench .
Yes I thought very honest. It would seem that despite training to the managers plan they just did not carry it out. Whilst I don't know why they didn't it would seem unfair to lay the blame entirely at the managers feet. I still feel we should keep with Ismael although how we change the players mind set I do not know.
On the other hand, Huddersfield is just about my favourite away day so there is that to look forward to next season... assuming we can arrest our horrendous form.
I do wonder about VI's management style though. I don't know what goes on behind closed doors or on the training pitch, but he does come across as too autocratic, which could be why players aren't performing - they aren't buying into his plans. Perhaps if he switched to a more participative management style and involved them in planning, the players might take ownership of them and perform to expectations?
I am sure there are a lot of things going on that we are not privy to. Yesterday, it seemed to me that we didn't have a player who could pass the ball accurately to a teammate. That is not so much about playing to a certain style, but about basic skills.
I think Tommy Mooney would disagree. Yesterday he pointed out that playing to a system that they are either unused to or uncomfortable with causes fear/stress and players make mistakes - such as misplaced passes. And they each spent about 75% of their time on the pitch making misplaced passes. His words made sense to me - I really couldn't believe that any professional footballer at this level would lack the basic skill of accurately passing a ball, especially when under no pressure as was the case in many instances yesterday.
We aren’t comfortable playing it around at the back that is for sure . I noticed Hamer kicked it long once and got told off ! This article is a bit worrying too . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/24142648.watford-boss-ismael-think-made-mistakes-yesterday/ Not sure it will go down well not to take any responsibility.
I am not sure if they were being asked to play to a different style to the one that has been in use for weeks. Some of the team selection seems very odd. Why have two right backs on the bench, and a midfielder playing there? I am not sure that the two first half subs were because they were thought to be playing badly, they were along with the rest of them, or because they were doing their own thing and not sticking to the plan. I did feel, briefly, that after we scored the team would feel a weight of expectation lifted, and we would settle down. In some respects, we started to look more anxious, and worse. Dreadful afternoon.
Which strongly suggest that they are uncomfortable with it. Which, I suppose, is another black mark against VI - it makes far more sense to plan around players' strengths rather than stick myopically with something that isn't working.
Modern football and the media for you . Linked to a manager when the current one is still in a job . And people lap it up too.
I reckon that's just a rehash of the rumour started by FLW - him, Gary Rowett or Jon Dahl Tomasson, all three of them currently unemployed.
