Naas will be very testing today with rainfall expected all through the day, it will be on the extreme side of heavy i would imagine.

With conditions being as they are, and if racing goes ahead later then I think Bottler'secret could be the answer in the opening race at Naas. Currently available at 6/1 this lad will relish the conditions when the others may have had enough.

Do not shoot the messenger time. My mate got this and it is favourite for a five runner race, so any old fool could have picked it (even me!).

Hereford 3:40: Abingworth – it was caught on the line last time out so really should be on a hat-trick as it won the time before last; it is the Timeform pick on SportingLife.com.

    Captain Wallace - 4.40 Hereford

Could be starting out on a lenient mark going by his Irish P2P form. The horse that beat him come out and won first time out over here.

At Hereford today the young trainer, Tom Symonds. whose stable at Ross-on-Wye, is very close to the course, which is about 16-miles away on the A49. Symonds yard is represented in every race (I think!) but his best chance of success may well be in the penultimate event, (16:40), a Class-5 Handicap Hurdle over an extended 2m5f on soft (heavy-in-places) ground. Maybe the one with a squeak at making a podium finish, at least, is the Nathaniel gelding (Damsire: Beneficial)), Mister Barclay, a consistent type who should benefit from the step-up in trip. Jordan Nailor rides for the Symonds stable.

6/1 (Wm.Hill) best price, at time of writing, on both the ATR and Oddschecker sites. Any drift then E/W is the preferred option.

(I should mention that the Symonds yard does get the odd Bumper winner too, but not often) <whistle>

Won with consumate ease. A real shame Woodhooh was pulled as I feel Bottler would have had him held on the ground as well. As a result I will be walloped with a R4 for my original bet, but I did another when he was reinstalled at 6/4 fave as I was convinced nothing would go through to the line as well as him and it proved the right line of thinking, thankfully.

The Jospeh O'Brien runner Trustyourinstinct will be one worth tracking for handicaps when upped in distance. He travelled sweetly enough but was lugging and being very difficult for his jockey to handle in behind. Bit of nicer ground and he will be popping up very soon at a nice price.

Ran an absolute stinker to finish a remote 7th. Was in good company, however, as Timeform tipped it too! Wouldn't have found the winner in a month of Sundays. Trainer as far as I know is a billionaire property developer! <yikes>

If that is the best Bumper horse this season, then Bottler'secret must be a pretty useful Juvenile. Same distance, same day with (presumably) 8 fences in the way and took 3.2 secs less, pushed out, by 11l (but carrying 11lb less) - 20/1 for the Triumph Hurdle

Mind you, by the same token, Sir Gino was 0.8 secs faster than Lossiemouth, carrying 5lb more. Some performance from a 4yo considering he only had to be shaken up to win impressively by 10l. And that was at Cheltenham. Maybe just looking for a place bet in that race with Sir Gino at 4/6

Yes I know but you would think the fences would slow them down, to what extent I don't know. Haven't looked to see if there is much difference in times generally. Probably another piece of useless information. About the only thing at which I'm any good at the moment <laugh>
