RIP Stan, one of my all time favourite players just a special talent, his autobiography is one of the best books I have ever read what a character. They certainly don't make many like him.
Simply ‘The Greatest Player and the Greatest Character from the Greatest Team we ever had’ RIP My Hero x
RIP Stan Bowles, a difficult time, especially after such a good day for you. I went to QPR, one night, for a League Cup match with Mansfield Town ... ... Bowles was like a one man Harlem Globetrotters, ran rings around us and we lost 4-0 iirc. A great player and a man of his times.
As a 10 year old in 1971, l started following QPR. At first, l can’t remember how or why l supported QPR but with Stan Bowles joining 1972, l know he was the main reason l stayed with QPR. You may now be gone but your memories with stay forever. Vale Stanley Bowles.
R.I.P. Stan. Thanks for the fantastic memories, you will always be in our hearts. Our thoughts are with your family and all associated with QPR. Rest in eternal peace at the great Loft in the sky.
Started watching a Globe DVD of Othello that always makes me cry. Only one hour in, it hasn't got sad yet, but I can't stop the tears. I'll try again tomorrow. RIP, Stan the Man!
Very sad to read that Stan Bowles has passed away. As a kid playing football, there weren't many of us that didn't want to be pretend we were him. A great footballer and entertainer. RIP Stan, and thanks for the memories.
RIP Stan As you signed your autobiography for me … you will always be ‘Stan the Man’. A true legend to me you always made me smile but today you leave me with a very heavy heart. Condolences to your family and your friends whose loss will always be greater than mine. We will all remember you fondly and with total admiration for who you were to us as fans of ‘our’ club. RIP
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve actually shed a tear or two this evening. It’s like @sb_73 evoked in his piece… Stan’s passing takes you back to your own memories of him playing, your own youth, your father, what it was like back then. Losing him sort of severs that and you feel it.
Great player, when I was a nipper I was praying that you would beat Liverpool to the League title, you were the great entertainers and Stan was at the heart of it, he was yet another who had criminally few England caps. R.I.P.Stan...
