The wheels have come off yes but from what I see on here is an empty pram with toys all over the floor. Bad couple of weeks but need our support more than ever
Nathan Jones had the excuse of having a squad far inferior to most in the division. Martin has one of the best. It's promotion or he gets shown the door for me.
With the second yellow that wasn't, and the dodgy first goal, it was obvious today was going to be one of those days. Look on the bright side, now we can go for the cup. And we can rotate players and keep them fresh for the playoffs.
I don't think it's time to panic. We've just had a ropey set of games and need to sort ourselves out a bit. RM needs to get his head around what needs to happen with the whole DM thing too. Today was "one of those days" that if it had happened in isolation, we would have shrugged our shoulders and done the whole blue line thing. The fact it's happened off the back of some poor performances (apart from the one against the Baggies where we had, guess what, a DM playing) makes it look a whole lot worse.
The worrying thing is that it is becoming increasingly obvious that we can be stopped from playing, by either strong pressing or just by filling the middle with willing runners. They sat off us in the first half which made us look okay, even if we weren’t carving them open, but the second half, after replacing Obafemi, they became a more compact unit and we decided to play slow ball, just to make it easier for them to defend against us.
I think it's incredibly unlikely we get autos, but not out of the question yet. Today was a bit Ralphy.
Yeah not time to panic as barring some absolute insanity we are going to be in the playoffs, but with Ipswich and Leeds not showing any signs of slowing up I can’t see us overtaking both now.
We've been sussed out it seems. A couple of wins would get the show back on the road with the crowd and fans onside. A couple more like today will see a much different reaction. The real shame of these past weeks is that even when Downes gets back playing, the pressure on him, even if a sub etc, is too much. Whereas if we'd ticked over even 4 points from the losing games, we'd at least had some form for him to ease back. Patience is not an easy virtue with our team.
