Watched the first Mr Mercedes tonight, thought it was going to be decent, quality cast and setup etc but I was taken aback by how good it was.

Shows like that (serial killer) are usually quite by the number but it's full of interesting characters and weird **** that pushes the envelope. Brendan Gleeson is a top actor and he's right at home in it.

Didn't know it was based on books. Always a good basis for a quality show as long as they don't dick about 'updating it for a modern audience' and ruin it in the process.

Stephen King wrote them, and normally tv and film adaptations of his work are poor. But on occasions like Shawshank and Green Mile they knock it out of the park.

Alice & Jack on Ch4. Not everyone's cup of tea I'm sure, but it's compelling viewing

Yeah very hit and miss, tends to be his more grounded stuff that works best.

On Mr Mercedes does each book have a different antagonist or is there one overarching the series?

2 episodes in and not feeling it. Seems a bit silly. Worth sticking with?

I think I liked it more the more it went on, but nah if you're not into it after two episodes I'd bail. Doesn't change tone just gets more interesting as the story reveals itself.

Wait until the second season Caos and better than the first series in my view. The best I have watched for a whileI have watched 2 episodes each nitght but sadly only 2 left. I understand there will be multiple series. Hope it stays as good as season one and two.

Glad I stuck with it, was excellent if a little weird (standard for Fargo). Juno Temple and JJL were excellent in it

That's next on the list if I can ever persuade the wife to watch something that isn't just "easy viewing"....

Good, a tv thread. Saves me starting one.

Started Ballers last week. Finished S1. It's weird. Very little seems to happen but I'm still watching it.

Just watched the new season of true detective.

Absolutely ****e and a shame given the glory days of the early series. The ending was one of the worst I have seen whilst been able to watch TV.

    Don't watch it.

Heard nothing but poor reviews about it! I only ever watched season 1 and it was excellent from what I remember.

Last tv series I watched that wasn't comedy or a re-watch of a comedy was Slow Horses which is amazing.

Watched that Extraordinary first series is on itv and both series on Disney. Had its funny moments!

Started watching Loudermilk on Netflix. Nice easy viewing dark comedy. I like watching miserable bastards on TV.
