he is a cheeky sod. he's putting thr pressure and spotlight in them my view is lfc ought to be red hot favourites here if 2 players even make the team say nunez and szobo kelleher Bradley knaote vvd Robertson szobo endo macca gakpo nunez diaz maybe salah gets 30mins maybe not. that team above is very much good enough to beat cheslea. if you put in Ryan gravenberch he's not as good yet as szobszlai but he's a very good player. if Elliott played as good as he did v Luton second half it would be too bad. this is all just talk. we have the players to pit chesle on the back foot. if we really really want it that back line will keep a clean sheet off chelsea.
JONES KNOWS BEST HAS GONE FOR CHELSEA WIN ON PENALTIES, Chelsea vs Liverpool, Carabao Cup final, Sunday 3pm, live on Sky Sports I'm looking to combine two angles in the Sunday showpiece, although they are very contradictory. They consist of foreseeing a tight and cagey game played out at a stadium that rarely is conducive to goal-frenzy matches and Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher not to keep a clean sheet. Playing at Wembley tends to sap the momentum out of a game - maybe the jeopardy of a cup final plays a part - which in turn leads to low-scoring football matches. In the last 30 domestic matches played at Wembley the average total goals per 90 stands at a miserly 1.93. Only three of those games have gone above the 3.5 goals line, too. When you have low scoring games, the draw becomes a strong runner. It's the 1-1 correct score that stands out at 6/1 with Sky Bet as Chelsea are fancied to get on the scoresheet. Whatever Jurgen Klopp says, Kelleher is a downgrade on Alisson and he's kept just two clean sheets in his last 16 starts. Meanwhile, six of the last 16 League Cup finals have gone to extra-time - this could add to that trend with Chelsea winning on penalties at 11/1 worth a tickle. SCORE PREDICTION: 1-1 (Chelsea to win on penalties)
I couldn't confidentiality predict. Obviously everyone fully fit I think we're the better team. (as indicated by the 10 place gap between us on the table). But we do have fitness concerns, and even if some people make it back into the team, how fit could they possibly be? I'm going to put it down as an expected win, but with very little confidence.
I hate us playing Chelsea. The last game was unusual because it was exciting and a good win, but I'm expecting this one to return to the usual teeth-pulling exercise and go to penalties again.
everyone is putting down chelsea as much improved this and that. a) the pitch at Wembley is much bigger than theirs at Stamford Bridge. no advantage over us there. with clubs have smaller home parks. b) this will be a first experience for a huge amount of their team. yes our team is lacking but we have some in and about big games in the past and more of them in truth. c) chelsea concede loads of goals. their defence has hurt them time and again. every side would love to go with alisson, szobo, nunez, trent and salah. of course entry would. but kelleher was always starting anyway. Bradley offers better shape and width and we could start Joe gomez if we like. I'd love salah to be fit. if he were playing rw people would be far more confident but Elliott will try his best.
I'm not concerned about Chelsea, I'm rarely overly concerned about the opposition. Concentrate on ourselves; if we do our job then only a few teams in world football can cope.
If we score first, the match is over. So far this season they’ve done well (most of the time) if they’ve not conceded first. Even if they score first we’ve got the ability to come back like in most matches this season.
we won't give up. that's for sure. if we score first we are inclined to dick about a bit too much bit we are looking to draw team out and counter at that point if we look at the city game it was a very wet night. city had 71% possession and missed a series of chances having fallen behind. chelsea line up is very likely to be the same as that game barring injury of shock pick. petrovic Gusto diasi colwil chilwell fernandez caicedo Palmer gallagher sterling Jackson. that back line imo is weak and gallagher is in to kick people as much as anything. nkunku from the bench is the main danger. I think if we can put in the intensity we can repeat the 4-1 trick but it's a big pitch and we really need to hassle them
Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah report for Liverpool training amid injury uncertainty Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez have both been pictured at the AXA Training Centre ahead of Liverpool training with the pair injury doubts for Sunday's League Cup final clash with Chelsea. please log in to view this image Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah report for Liverpool training amid injury uncertainty - Liverpool Echo
unless they are wearing football boots and out on the park in full training we don't now anything. the club have deliberately not shown any outdoors training shots the shots we saw were players in the lobby having breakfast juices and in warm up gear. a player in a rehab program would also be in those pics.
MATCHChelsea v Liverpool: Carabao Cup final team news Liverpool will be without eight players for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, while late decisions will be made on the fitness of Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota are all ruled out of the Wembley clash due to injury. That quartet join Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak and Joel Matip on the sidelines, and assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders confirmed on Friday that Nunez, Salah and Szoboszlai are being monitored ahead of the trip to the capital. Lijnders told Liverpoolfc.com: “We come in a crazy schedule again, so we play every three days. It’s important for us to use each minute, use each day to really look how the players are. This is for Mo, Dom and Darwin. “Two training sessions to go, let’s see how they are and then we can make a decision in the last minute.” Lijnders added: “All the others, we know it’s longer. Ali has a muscle injury. Trent, LCL. Jota, medial ligament, MCL. Curtis [has] a high ankle sprain. They will be longer out. “Curtis is probably the first one [to come back] around the international break. All the others will be after the international break. Asked if there were any knocks picked up in the 4-1 win over Luton Town on Wednesday, Lijnders replied: “So far I know not. All the boys had a day off yesterday but for us a day off means that they come in and they have treatment and, of course, we have to prepare for the final. “But for the boys it’s proper recovery, so they all feel the necessity to use [it] in these moments where you play every three days and where certain boys have to play more because of the injuries. “So, they are treating their body well, they are trying everything to be fresh, to be fit. But you know with our style, how we play, it’s important. You have to respect the recovery as much as you respect the performance. Chelsea, meanwhile, could welcome back Thiago Silva for Sunday’s game, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino confirming on Friday that the Brazilian may be fit to play some part. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is also available having been sidelined recently due to injury. “We need to assess a few players still to see if they can be involved on Sunday,” said Pochettino. “We will know tomorrow if we can recover some players from injury. Thiago has a chance, tomorrow we will see if he is ready to be involved in the game. “I have decided who will be the goalkeeper. 99 per cent of my team is in my head. I have not told the players yet because always anything can happen. So, I prefer to wait until tomorrow, or maybe after tomorrow.” Chelsea will definitely be without captain Reece James, while Benoit Badiashile, Carney Chukwuemeka, Marc Cucurella and Romeo Lavia are also ruled out. I have to say that I will be glad to see the back of linders press conferences. He is very abrupt in seaking but he also would tell you the players shoe sizes, what breakfast they had and their mothers maiden name if you asked. Every single league cup, presser he's basically outlined very single injury. It's giving chavs info but also city in 2 weeks time.
Ah yeah but even one element of maybe is useful. He has consistently blabber everything any anything.
Nunez for Gakpo if fit. With everyone fit I'd have been quietly confident but the injuries we have gives them a chance.
won't be long now until we know. the real big game in the next week is Nottm forest away. these are a good day out for the lads at anfield South.
