Enjoyed that. We have lost the plot in football, getting so involved in this stuff when we allow FFP and elitism to run amok.
I'd rather have Ashworth than let Howe and his nephew get the control they seek. Newcastle are now at a dangerous cross road. It won't surprise me if the summer sees even more ****e than usual come in if Howe gets his way.
But as that article says, Ashworth wanted Allardyce and then Southgate to manage tge 'English Plodders' national team. So is his judgement really all that good? Maybe he had a negative influence on our more recent transfer activity. Perhaps we'll get a better idea this summer.
It's not Ashworth I'm bothered about It's Howe and his nephew. Hopefully the club doesn't let them do damage that will continue long after they are sacked. I don't personally believe either Howe or his nephew will have the connections and scouting nouse to build what's required. I would bet all my money on the likes of Guimaraes Botman and Isak being players Nickson watched regularly not them. If the summer sees the likes of Phillips Billing or plodders of that nature what would your thoughts be ?
He can say yes , no and give his preferences and suggestions though. I believe his nephew was brought in to sit on top of Nickson who has nowhere near as much experience and after a few windows his work would begin to show more and more. It is my concern that over time his signings have and will continue to get worse! the more time Howe and his nephew have here. I could of course be wrong, but I'm convinced of which signings Howe is behind and what kind of player he's likely to want to bring in. These managers all want as much fun and control as possible and they most definitely manipulate things accordingly - the Dan Burn situation for example stinks of I picked him, he's my favourite and someone else wanted Hall.
Well, let's give it time. This summer transfer window could be quite telling I think. In the meantine, did you save me any of those pancakes?
Howes Nephew is a problem.... Nicksons fed up.. Howe is winning a power struggle and it'll not end well.
