and surely far more economical ..??... most of the younger lads live west Hull also... I just cant get my head around the reasoning TBH...
Just having the academy to the west of the city would open up more kids to us as well, I think ( unless it's changed ) for a cat 1/2 club. Under 11s have to be within an hour and 11-16yrs is 90mins of academy.
Good job people at the club read the stuff we write here HT2.. I wonder if they had considered that...?
I'm sure there's multiple reasons why the site at the stadium is being pushed, from the councils POV it's a no brainer as it gets the area looking 100x better and used properly etc ... I'm also pretty sure they'll be something / some reason in it for us as a club also
Listening to SportsTalk tonight I reckon Councillor Mike Ross, City Council leader, will make a great MP....Never answered a question put to him. Skirted around the edges and waffled. Won't be getting my vote in May, none of them will...
He's stood for parliament on four occasions, and failed four times. Never trust a bible bashing politician. (two for the price of one in the same post) The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Must have changed then since I was last coaching in academies. But either or....it would be beneficial for us to have it sent up to the West of the city as opposed to at the KC
Not a chance they’ll build a smaller stadium, for a start FC won’t move into anything smaller than 15k and to build a stadium that size you’re looking at £35-40m minimum, it’s a complete non starter.
Why are some people so keen to see it out of the City? Seems odd to me. Just because some other clubs have chosen (or had) to) do so doesn't mean it's right for us.
Just watching HKR v Leeds. The pitch is getting ripped to shreds after the rain today. Glad FC are away this week.
For the reasons I've mentioned in other posts today, more privacy, better location, easier access, cheaper land, potentially more room to expand at a later date..... there's ( imo ) more reasons to have it it to the west of the city then in the center
Have you tried to get anywhere in Hull recently.......the hull kids will easily and happily get to it west of the city but having it there will open up more kids from outside the direct hull area to be involved. That along with all the other reasons I just said are exactly why it should be west of the city
I'm with Acun and Tan. Develop something state of the art around the stadium. Accessible by train, bus, car, even walking,or bike for many. Of course there's tradeoffs with everything. Nothing is going to be perfect.
I think there's two different discussions to be had. Should the area around the stadium be developed and improved - absolutely. I think there's so much land around the stadium that is so sorely underused and has so much untapped potential that developing it is a no brainer. The other issue is should the club's training facilities be improved, and should the Academy be aligned with the senior training facilities, I think that's also a yes and a no brainer. How the two projects overlap though is where the debate is being had.
Why do training pitches and academies have to be accessible by train, bus, car, walking or bike? Nothing on that decrepit area will look .state of the art
