It was a shambles last night and as Bwood says, wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference who voted for what....if it had gone ahead. Pantomime but it at least distracts people for a short while.
When Labour get in, they'll be in thrall to the unions. We could have regular strikes in every sector. Civil servants are already demanding four day weeks for the same money, lazy ****ers
I’m reliably informed civil servants don’t do anything so might as well let them do a four day week which presumably won’t cut their overall hours. Four day weeks should be encouraged in businesses where it’s viable.
If an employee is allowed to do 4 days, it can mean they’re not valued by a company and will first to be made redundant when times are bad.
I’m sure we’ve done this before but if they’re doing the same hours and same volume of work then who cares? Obviously it’s not viable for every job but if your output is just as good doing 4x10 as 5x8 then crack on IMO.
It depends what they do, and whether it's a strictly 8 hour role. Some workers do more than their contractual hours often. Nurses, for example. It's good for the organisation and good for their promotion hopes. And for cerebral jobs, output would not be such high quality in the last 2 hours of a 10 hour day. Better to be fresher doing 8 hours. The thought of civil servants pretending to do 10 hour days at home is irritating in the extreme, since we pay their salaries
I did say it’s not appropriate for every role. Would you not be fresher off the back of a three day weekend or only working two days at a time with one less commute per week? If someone is that lazy they’re probably sacking off most of Friday anyway.
The problem is, there will always be people who want to work extra days/hours to get the best quality lives for their family, and those whose ambition is to get away with the least work they can so they can spend time on the golf course. You end up with the have’s and have nots, which I thought is what we’re trying to move away from.
