IMO, he is definitely a step up from Ingram, I would put their shot stopping on a similar level, but distribution wise he is a big asset. Clearly, Pandur is also, in the coach's opinion, better than Matty, as he is ahead of him also.
LR explains why Ohio was not in squad for Southampton game. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hull-city-boss-explains-noah-9113919 Highlighted in case you did not want to read full article. "Noah, I just felt it wasn't the type of game for Noah. No disrespect, Noah, he's a different type of centre forward, and that's the only reason he wasn't in the squad." Billy Sharp, who, if you need a goal, he's the best in the Championship of all time at it.
The job spec for a goalie has changed massively from the days of Banks, Shilton, even Seaman and Hart. More so playing Rosball. If it was just about shot stopping, then he wouldn’t be a Championship goalie. However there is far more to the role nowadays. Some on here who don’t rate him seem blind to that. He is easily the best keeper (edit: permanent) we have ever had at the ‘other stuff’(to be fair, probably out of a sample of two or three). He is exceptional with his feet, acting as sweeper and dominates his box (sometimes the last third). The short interchanges with his defenders are a necessity under Rosball. It is sometimes squeaky bum stuff, but the rewards outweigh the risks and he is very solid at it. I think we have to accept that occasionally it will go pear shaped and he then looks stupid. Its inevitable and happens to the very best. As a goalie, he is then under ridiculous scrutiny from supporters looking for any flaw in his game. After it goes wrong, he doesn’t then revert to hoofing, he continues to stick to the game plan, which takes some balls. I guess that’s the epitome of Rosenior’s phrase of wanting his players to be brave. He also has the vision and skill to play a long pass. The first goal the other night was a great example. A gap appeared on our left wing because he/we had been inviting the press. It may have been that a few minutes earlier, they nearly scored from pressing, so lost their discipline on this occasion. Whatever, he had the vision to spot that and then had the ability to play a 30-40 yard ball from which we score. So while not the best at shot stopping, he brings so much more to the role and is exceptional at it.
Select Internet on the firestick and then search for the city website, that's how I do it and then you can log in and watch the match, as long as you've paid your tenner.
I don't. He's 38. People can be as optimistic as they want, that's their right and good for them, but some realism is needed too.
I’m not sure you’re very good at it. (Winking, smiling emoji.. but they don’t come up on my posts for some reason) . It could be he hasn’t ‘improved’ his shot stopping, just that he went through a bad spell of form, like most goalies? Is your poor positioning theory from after the Watford game? Can’t we put that down to them doing their homework on how we set up, and then producing an exceptional piece of skill? I recall just prior to that goal someone on here pointing out how his positioning enabled us to recover the ball quicker when the other team break down.
I know the WBA thread will be here soon but they are a different competent strong and tall side and we are on our pitch . I think they will sit deep and try to crowd us out and counter only .
Maybe people can discuss our striker situation on our pod.. we're about to go live! Jump in the comments if there's something you want us to discuss.
I think he may get game time against WBA they have a strong physical team and as much as the forward line against southampton was brilliant i think LR will see this game more suited to Sharp.
I know this is the way Liam wants us to play, but once the players are on the pitch on occasions they have to make their own decisions, as I stated earlier the goalkeeper can see the whole pitch, so should have shouted clearly no there is a man on your back and made a different decision to play it wide or long.
They like passing to a player under pressure though as that's what opens up the play. It sucks the Soton players in. It's what led to Coyle tearing up the other end at one point.
