Premier League title race run-in: Will Liverpool, Manchester City or Arsenal come out on top?
It is set to be the tightest Premier League title race in many years.

Manchester City's 1-0 victory over Brentford on Tuesday evening lifted Pep Guardiola's champions above Arsenal into second place - one point behind leaders Liverpool - with 13 rounds of fixtures remaining.

For the first time since 2015-16, when the third-placed Gunners were two points behind leaders Leicester after 26 games, the top three are separated by just two points.

In fact, that gap at the top has only been as tight at this stage of a Premier League season on seven other occasions - and only four times this century.

Erling Haaland's 22nd goal of the campaign means City's hopes of becoming the first team to lift the trophy four times in a row are very much still in their own hands - with a crucial match against Liverpool coming up in March at Anfield.

"It's a long way [to go]," manager Pep Guardiola said afterwards. "There are still many games. Of course, it's better to win. We missed the opportunity against Chelsea [on Tuesday].

"I'm so proud of the team. We are closer but we are in the real part of the season. [We have] tough, tough games in this period. We are there."

TT to leave Bayern at the end of the season.

Looks like Alonso has his choice of two atm. Just needs Ancelotti to decide he’s had enough and his 3 dream clubs will be open and available for him at the same time.

I hope lfc have done lots of searching and have other back ups and not going to be panic if Alonso chooses Bayern at the end of the season.

I can’t see Alonso going anywhere else than Anfield. He’s played for us for many years as a key player, knows the club inside out and knows he’ll be given time like Klopp. He’ll be adored by the fans if he’s successful like his predecessor.

He’ll be immediately under pressure at Bayern. To me it’s a no brainer which club he’ll choose.

I can see why he might choose Bayern though. For one thing he's effectively eliminating himself as the main competition, and obviously he already lives in Germany and has kids settled there. It would be a convenient, if unambitious, option for him.

Tend to agree,Klopp is leaving Liverpool in very good shape. Squad strength, low average age, lots of youth coming through etc.

I don't know what language the kids speak nor what they see as their next step

But Leverkusen to Munich is the equivalent of moving from Liverpool to London. There's no commuting there so the family is uprooted irrespective.

The way i see this is that he was in Spain at real Sociedad for 2/3 years over covid times managing thier B team, he's only been in gemrany 18months so far.

Obviously, a manager must have self confidence in their abilities and believe they'll be a success wherever they go but the state Liverpool are currently in makes for a bigger fall should it not go to plan

They'll be uprooted but still sort of the same Environment. I don't know how old his kids are but obviously he was in Bayern for three years as a player so unless they're small they'll arready have had a bit of a German upbringing. He hasn't been in England for 15 years. Munich's also a nice place to live with better weather.

It's different sorts of pressure really. In Liverpool you're following the most successful and loved Manager of a Generation, as well as one of the best managers in the world who looks like he'll be leaving on some sort of a high. The fans may have more patience but the competition in the PL if fierce.

At Bayern there's more scope to improve them and relatively less competition in the league. But people expect Bayern to win everything and if he goes through a bad patch the pressure will be intense. Bayern actually had a really good first half of the season with 44 points from 17 games (we had 38) but Tuchel was under pressure just for not being first.

Thats the thing in the Bundesliga right now, Bayern arent really having a terrible season.
Kane is scoring left and right and they have only lost 4 games. Its more that they aint top, which is down to Leverkusen having an almost supernatural season thus far in which they havent lost a single game and have only conceded 15 goals all season!
Even then the gap is only 8 points with with 14 games in which to make up that ground. Make no mistake, Bayern are still very much in it, unless Leverkusen go on to have an invincible season, in which case, thats down to their greatness rather than any failure on Munchen or Tuchels part.
Bayern also qualified from their CL group at a canter and are still very much in that competition.
The only real stain on their season has been their exit from the DFB Pokal to a third division side....that was pretty bad, but that aside, they could still go on to grab a league and European double!

Indeed. People are saying that Tuchel will be a failure just for not winning a trophy for the first time in 12 years...

To be fair, they're in a bad patch. They've lost 3 out of 5 League games since the restart and lost the first leg in the CL. If things pick up they can still win both, but the performances and mentality have been worrying as much as the results themselves. Tuchel seems a good Coach but doesn't seem like the type who builds up a lot of social capital to Fall back on when things get rougher. There's also fan discontent at the Board, the recruitment hasn't been the best etc etc which is also making the Environment more difficult.

Bayern could do with Klopp tbh...

The fact that FSG (quite rightly) stuck with Klopp when he was having a difficult spell last year has to be a good advert for Liverpool for managers.

As a manager, you want somewhere where your long-term success is more important than having a difficult 6 months. Obviously, I might be biased, but FSG-ran Liverpool is a much more attractive option than many other, "toss-out the manager when they hit a rough patch" clubs.

any manager going into bayern will be looking at them like as if they are being run by roman ambramovich.

Nagelsmann got 6 months. no backing and out the door. he was much closer to the top of the table and still in both cups at the time. It was a world cup hangover

Tuchel hasn't had a good time. Lucked into the league win last year after dortmund screwed it on the last day. looks well short this season .Again out the door. Wasn't backed with the players he wanted.

you won't get any backing there as a coach over time.

If your worry is about them snagging Alonso from Leverkusen, I dont think that will happen.
If Real come in for him, he will go there. As a Spaniard, Real is the dream. You are basically one of the most revered men in all of Spain as Real coach, very few managers would turn that down, and certainly not a spanish manager.
If Real dont come in for him, he will go to Liverpool, is my opinion.

Anyone considered rhe fact that Alonso is creating something good where he is and might just want to stay and build a team like Klopp did at Liverpool?
