One of the most impressive things about last night was our energy - especially first half. We pressed them all over the pitch and they just couldn’t deal with it. At times it bordered on embarrassing how easily we took the ball off them. We could, and probably should, have been four up at halftime. We must get confidence from this. If we can treat one of the best sides in the league like this then we should be able to muller less able sides. It was a much better performance than Leicester - where we pretty much clung on for the whole game. Instead we battered a top side at this level. Subs were, on the whole, well made as well, although Traore has too many mistakes in him for my liking. Gotta keep this streak going. #UTT
Would piss off a gew Mancs and Brighton fans although I suspect he has a lot of time for all 3, judging by his book
Last nights result must be a right pisser for those just behind us. Bearing in mind we realistically looking at 5/6th place they wanted us beaten big time. Beat West Brom and they will see us as favourites for 5th place and panic will set in.
It's part of our game plan to do that ball from the keeper to the holding midfielder which looks risky, and then he ideally plays it sideways to a defender who can then play forward, or if that isn't on then he plays it back to the keeper instead. It has gone wrong in the execution a couple of times but that risk weighed up against the benefits must be factored into our decision to keep doing it.
I honestly can't remember the last time it ended up in a goal when going wrong. Was it that Seri one?
Even late in the game when we were starting to hang on there was a time when first Jones then Greaves had pressed all the way up to the edge of their box in the same phase of play, I actually found it a little disconcerting. When Greaves pushed forwards they hit a long ball and Slater had dropped back into defence and struggled to deal with it. I don’t think it actually turned into an enemy chance but was an unnecessary risk, there was no need for the centre halves to chase so far up the pitch. Let them have it in that area under the circumstances IMO.
Yeah the one at West Brom this season, although that was more Seri's execution of the pass out wide. And then there was one last season where Blackpool nicked it off Woods in that position.
So you mean yours is not guessing but fact since you said this "Says a lot about Ohio that Sharp is seen as more worthwhile. You obviously think LR has an higher opinion of sharp than Ohio when in fact not everyone can make the bench for every game and as Tickton said below this could be a reason. Tickton Tiger. said: ↑ He's injured. Didn't you see him limping onto the pitch at the end?
Yes, it says a lot about Ohio that Sharp was preferred in this game. That's a statement of fact. Sharp was preferred in the squad to Ohio. I ask again, who's guessing or making assumptions? If he's injured why did LR say he was fine and it was just a squad decision? And if he's injured then all this tosh about 'well Sharp was better suited to the conditions of the night' etc. is just that.
Maybe. Personally I'm unsure about him from what I've seen. It maybe also says that the management think Sharp is better than people have been making out recently.
