Can we play this to the north stand before west Brom? Maybe they'll start shouting 'triangles' not 'gerrit forward you **** cnut instead?
I'm sure every manager that ever was encourages their players to be brave. Apart from maybe Terry D circa 1992-96 and Grunt McCunt in the latter part of the 19/20 season, obvs.
Could have said that at the king power though. It's backing it up with an element of consistency that will count. If they don't, it's just a shindig.
Thought they must be a bit sick they gave us Alfie for nowt, but no. Nice magnanimous set of fans for the most part. Wish them well. Shame we did L**ds a favour but life goes on.
Massive result tonight. Obviously it's massive in isolation, but I think it capping a week of three away wins is significant. This team has shown promise over a long period, but I don't think we've had real momentum at any point, for a few years now. We've won games but never really had a prolonged run. This last 3 (and 5 wins from 6) feels like the next step we've been looking to reach for a while. I think that lack of momentum has been a factor in our home support being a bit subdued at times. Even when we win, it's generally been immediately following a loss, or immediately followed by one. I remember the excitement that grew and grew in 2008 as we went on that good run, and that kind of excitement definitely hasn't been there in recent years. We've not had a sustained promotion push (with fans in attendance) for a long time. This season is very much a serious playoff push and hopefully this run we're now on can inspire a bit more excitement which translates into more positivity in the stands on Saturday and for the rest of the season.
Still marking score papers on Statistical some thing or rather , leave em be , they're not students & besides they're on half term mate , even.
Ok. But marking never ends.... What do you think happens at half term other than catching up with marking?
That first half was the best I’ve seen us play, ever. That’s going back to the Waggy/Chilton era. We absolutely mullered them and should have gone in 4-0 ahead. The Omur/Carvalho/Zourory/Philogene dynamic was glorious with Seri knitting it all together superbly. And then Coyle and Slater showing how massively they have improved over the past few seasons, which is a real joy. Then great resilience at the end even after they pulled one back. A truly magnificent away day and the fans were great too. Well done all, especially Rosie.
About 5 and a half hours ago I put a win for city.. I also thought the comment wouldn’t age well, what the **** do I know, one of the best first 45 mins I’ve seen city play. I honestly believe that this is the start of something really really good, my Leeds supporting son in law is one lucky ****er when he bets so I asked him to stick a tenner on city at 5-1, I’m not even bothered if I get owt but **** me we won !!!!! Another win on Saturday and it’s definitely take off !!!!! Sell out Saturday!!!!!
And it's interesting seeing the comments from the Southampton fans following a defeat. They blame the defeat on playing it out from the back, they say that we attacked with speed, and they accuse their manager of thinking he's a genius for playing possession football. All very familiar complaints. LR is rightly getting credit tonight. He deserves it, and he deserves more understanding when it doesn't go as well. People can't wait to complain about team selections like starting without a striker, but then we play like that and he's vindicated. Some people can't wait to scoff at his pre-season comments about robustness whenever we get an injury, but now we're down to two injured players in the whole squad and able to choose which good players to leave out of the matchday squad; again he's vindicated. Not very often you have such a clean bill of health at this time of year. Turns out all that work he talked about doing in pre-season to keep us fitter throughout the season seems to have had some effect. This isn't an I told you so, it's a let's learn to be a bit more understanding and stop rushing to pick fault with our manager at every opportunity, because he's doing a really good job and deserves backing.
I think it’s the general issue with playing this style at this level. With the quality of player you can actual have at this level, it’ll always be inconsistent. But, it’s the way to go if you’re trying to build over time.
Tell Ipswich that. You seen much local non league ? 'Cos Gateshead play out, and pretty much have over achieved for 3 consecutive seasons under first Mike Williamson and now Rob Elliott as a result of a similar '"process". South Shields have just dicked Scunny too, which is really quite hilarious.... A club of that stature mixing it in contention for football league promotion and a second Wembley trip for the trophy proves you don't need world beaters to play a possession game. you just need buy in, commitment and you can make use of what quality you have. Probably regardless of style really, but any team needs a structure to play from. And the longer they do it, the more the telepathy will happen. Onwards and upwards.
